I'm pretty sure that I already have a one shot titled this, but it's Daniel Henney (Tadashi)'s birthday! I figured that I'd go ahead and write a quick one shot for it~
You quietly knock on the glass door of the cafe. Aunt Cass peeks out and grins. She walks around the counter and grabs her set of keys. She unlocks the door and gestures for you to come inside. "Come in, come in!"
"Hey," you greet with a smile. "Is Tadashi up?"
She shakes her head. "No, he's sleeping in. You can go on up there and wake him up if you want." She tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear. "I'm making French toast for breakfast."
"Sounds delicious," you say. "I'm going to go give him my gift." You hold up the blue birthday bag.
"Go ahead," she says.
You lightly skip up the steps to the kitchen, and then proceed to go up to his room. Hiro is typing away at his computer. When you land on the hardwood floor, he turns a bit. He nods at you and smiles. "Hey," he says quietly.
You wave and walk over to Tadashi's side of the room. The divider is closed slightly and the blinds are shut to block out any light. You open the blinds. Tadashi groans and pulls his blanket over his head. You smile and take a seat at his side. "Tadashi," you say softly, brushing his hair from his face. You smile. He looked so cute without his hat on. "Tadashi, wake up."
His eyes flutter open and his mouth opens with a yawn. He stretches his arms out and looks at you. "Hi," he says quietly. "What're you doing here?"
"What, a girlfriend can't visit her boyfriend on his birthday?" You laugh and kiss the tip of his nose.
He smiles. "Of course you can. You can visit any time you'd like." He sits up and runs a hand through his bedhead. He notices the blue bag on your lap. "I thought I told you that I don't need anything."
"I thought that you knew me enough to know that I won't listen," you reply with a smirk. Tadashi chuckles. "Besides, it's just a little something." You hand him the bag. Tadashi sighs and opens the bag. He removes the tissue paper, which you take from him and toss in the waste basket. He pulls out an evergreen cardigan and a box of green tea. "It's not much, and I hope that I got your size right. . ."
Tadashi gives you a genuine smile. "It's perfect." He kisses your cheek. "And so are you. Thank you."
"Ugh!" Hiro groans from the other side of the room. "I can't stay anywhere without you two making it all gross!" You laugh as he stomps down the stairs.
"I should get ready," Tadashi announces. He jumps out of bed and pulls out his outfit for the day.
You hug him from behind. "I'd hurry up. Aunt Cass is making French toast."
"Yum," he hums in response. "Then I'll be super quick." He smiles. "I'll meet you downstairs."
You nod and pull away. As soon as you reach the bottom of the steps, Hiro sticks his tongue out at you. "You're too gross, ___!"
You laugh and pull him into a hug. "C'mere, knucklehead!"
"Ew, ew, ew! Cooties!" he cries as he pulls away. You laugh and ruffle his already messy hair.
Aunt Cass shakes her head and laughs. "Alright, you two. Quit messing around and help me out."
"Yes, Aunt Cass," Hiro says. He immediately sets the table while you set out the buffet of toast toppings. Syrup, whipped cream, raspberries, strawberries, bananas, and powdered sugar. Hiro continually sneaks around and dips his finger in the bowl. You smack his forehead each time he does and he erupts into a fit of laughter.
Tadashi takes a deep breath as he enters the kitchen. "Smells great, Aunt Cass."
"Oh, there's my birthday boy!" She kisses his cheek and hugs him tightly. "Happy birthday, sweetie!"
Tadashi smiles. "Thanks, Aunt Cass." He pulls away and takes a seat across from Hiro at the table.
Hiro shakes his head. "Happy birthday, big bro. You're pretty old now." You take a seat beside Tadashi. He leans over and kisses you quickly. "Yuck!"
Tadashi chuckles and takes your hand. "Happy birthday," you say. You take note of what he's wearing. "Oh, your new cardigan! It fits well!"
"Yeah, I love it," he replies. "Thank you." He leans in to kiss you again.
"Stop!" Hiro says with a groan.
Tadashi pulls away with a sigh. Aunt Cass laughs and sets out a stack of toast. "Help yourselves!" she exclaims. Everyone digs in and tops their breakfast with the desired toppings. Hiro has a bit of everything, and soon enough his French toast is hidden in a pile of cream and fruit. Tadashi bets Hiro that he can't finish the entire thing. Halfway through the meal, Hiro pushes his plate away and groans. "No room for cake then?" Aunt Cass asks, pointing to the tall cake on the counter. "Or chicken wings for dinner?"
"Are you kidding?" Hiro stands up and painfully stretches. "I just need a nap." He slowly walks up the stairs.
Aunt Cass laughs. "Alright, Tadashi. All of your friends will be here at three. We'll have dinner and cake and then I believe ___ is treating you to a movie of your choice."
Tadashi looks over at you. "Are you really?"
You smile and hook your arm with his. "It's just a birthday date. No big deal." You lean forward and give him an Eskimo kiss. He smiles a crinkly-eyed smile and touches his lips to yours softly.
"I love you," he tells you, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear.
"I love you, too, 'Dashi. Happy birthday."
