You curl up tighter in you cocoon of blankets to fight against the frigid morning air. You shiver and press your cheek into the white pillow. Suddenly, a familiar arm sneaks around your waist. You're pulled into a warm hold; your back pressed up against his chest.

"Cold?" Your new husband's voice murmurs in your ear.

You nod and flip over to face him. "Mmhm." You wrap your arm around him and lay your cheek against his chest. His fingers brush your hair back from your face.

He chuckles upon noticing your closed eyes. "Are you going back to sleep?" You nod again. He kisses the top of your head. "It's almost ten."

You groan. "Guess I should get up, then."

Fred kisses the tip of your nose. "Stay in bed, love. Freddie'll take care of breakfast."

You smile. "I love you so much." Fred chuckles and pulls himself away from you. Before he leaves the room, he drapes an extra blanket over you. You sigh in comfort and doze off.

You're woken just twenty minutes later by the smell of smoke. You jerk out of your dreams and sit up quickly. Grey, billowing smoke is filling the room. You throw yourself out of bed and run into the dark hallway. "Fred!" You follow the smoke to the kitchen, where Fred is leaning out the window that's over the counter. Everything falls into place. "Freddie?"

Fred pokes his head back into the kitchen. He gives you a carefree smile. "Good morning, sweetie. How did you sleep?"

You look around the messy kitchen. "What happened here?"

"I- uh-" He drops back to the floor and drops a skillet into the sink, hissing in pain. "Ow! I tried to make breakfast."

You cross the room and take his hand. "Freddie. . ."

"I'm fine," he assures you. He pulls his hand back and takes a deep breath. "I just wish that I could've made you breakfast."

"You could've waited for me," you say, picking up the spatula and tossing it in the sink. You pick up the pan that is filled with charred rubble. "Um, what was this?"

"Bacon," he says. "I just wanted to surprise you with breakfast. We've only been married for a month now, but I still haven't made a meal. I wanted to try it, but it's kind of difficult when I was raised with Heathecliff cooking for me all the time."

You touch his shoulder. "You just have to learn. I'll teach you." Fred smiles. You then show him how to work the stovetop and how to cook the eggs, bacon, and pancakes correctly. You teach him how to make fresh orange juice and set the table correctly.

As you both eat, Fred holds your hand in his. "You know, I would've never learned how to do any of this without you."

"I know," you reply with a grin.

Fred rolls his eyes. "You're too cocky, sometimes." He laughs. "Seriously, though. Thank you for everything." He leans down and kisses you sweetly. You smile against his lips.

"You're welcome. And now that you can cook, I'm excited to see all the meals that you'll make for me." You take a bite of the eggs.

Fred wraps an arm around you. "I'll cook everyday for you if you want." He kisses your temple.

"I'll take you up on that offer as soon as I can trust you more." He rolls his eyes. "But I really do trust you to cook breakfast, so."

"At least there's that."

You stand up and gather all of the dishes. "Are you going to volunteer to do the dishes for me, too?"

"How about we go play videogames instead?" Fred offers.

You laugh. "We can't."

"Please?"

You sigh. "Fine, but you're doing them afterwards and this is just a one time thing. Deal?"

Fred stands up and grabs your waist. "Deal." He pulls your body against his and dips his head down to kiss you. When he comes up for air, he says. "How about loser has to do dishes?"

"That's unfair!" you cry. "You know that you always lose against me!"

Fred gives you a goofy grin. "Oh, it's on now!" You both run to the living room and plop down on the sofa. Fred turns the system on and grabs the remotes. Before the games start, he pulls you into his arms, so you're sitting against his chest and between his legs. He kisses your cheek swiftly. "I love you."

You smirk. "I hope that'll still be true after I beat you in this game!"
