Part two ~
(Unedited).
The next Monday, you see Hiro walking down the hallway at school. He avoided you all weekend. No calls, no texts. He didn't even hang out with the group on Saturday. You felt awful and a little. . . different. Like, if Hiro's sadness was what makes you think differently or something. It was crazy. You were probably just overreacting. Or maybe he was. You're not sure. Everything is making you nervous.
"Hey, Hiro," You say as he passes by.
Hiro doesn't glance up at you. "Huh? Uh, hey." The way he says it makes you frown. He's so hurt.
You watch Hiro as he walks out of the building. Should you follow him? You think about it. It wouldn't hurt, right? You can't bring yourself to move forward. Instead, you trudge back into your lab.

"You should apologize," Go Go says. You've been sitting at your desk for two hours. You missed your robotics class; the one Hiro is in.
"Huh?" You blink. "How do you even know about what happened?"
"Because I can see it in Hiro's eyes. Look, I get it if you don't feel the same. Just. . . apologize."
"He won't have anything to do with me," You say.
"Try. Okay?"
You nod. Go Go gives you a sad smile and turns away. "Hey, Go Go?" She turns to you and raises her eyebrows. "I. . . uh. . . maybe I feel the same. Or I just feel bad." You drop your face in your hands. "Ugh. I don't know."
"Hey. You've got this. Pull yourself together. Woman up." Go Go nods. You nod back. She leaves.
You stand up and wipe your palms on your jeans. "Okay," You whisper. "Just apologize."
You go look for Hiro. You see him walking down the sidewalk away from SFIT. You run after him. When he's in arm's reach, you touch his shoulder. He looks behind him and sees you.
"___," He says. Painfully, like your name burns his throat. "Hey."
"Hiro, I'm sorry." You take a deep breath.
"Don't apologize. I shouldn't expect you to feel the same." He shrugs. His voice is slow and heavy.
"I shouldn't of been a jerk," You say.
"You're not a jerk."
"But I am. I shot you down so quickly. . . Hiro. I am sorry. I didn't know that this would hurt you so badly."
"I didn't either," Hiro admits. His lips curl up into a small smile.
"I thought that this was just a little crush and you would just move on after a few days."
"I did, too."
"So. . . I'm sorry."
"So am I. I have been overreacting, really. I've been making you feel bad because you don't feel the same."
"But I do," You whisper.
"Huh?"
You roll your eyes. "Don't make me repeat it."
"Okay," Hiro says with a laugh. He holds his hands up.
"Can I walk home with you?"
"Yeah." Hiro's eyes widen. "If you wanna."
You smile and start down the sidewalk with Hiro by your side. The two of you talk as if nothing was changed. Just as you turn into Hiro's block, Hiro's fingers brush against the back of your hand. Hiro's cheeks heat up. "Sorry."
You shake your head. "No," You whisper. You look down and slowly move your fingers until they're intertwined with his. "Is this. . . okay?"
Hiro blinks. "Are you kidding me?" He asks. "Of course it's okay! This is. . . this is perfect." He grins and nods.
You laugh. "Okay. Good." The two of you walk home together, hands together and hearts fluttering.
