Day 203
Friday 17th March 2017 23:56

It's been a long first day at Dumpville but we've been reunited with the others. There's been some uncomfortable conversations, a couple of departures and a few unexpected shocks.

When I woke up I checked the door to my room to find it had been unlocked. I opened the door and walked down the quiet corridor. As I walked past the other rooms it was clear that the building had previously being used as offices but was now some makeshift hospital.

The corridor led to a large open space - a bit like a community centre waiting room. As I walked into the open space, I saw Naomi and DeShawn sat around some tables with the others. Mike was also sat with them. He was the first to notice me. "Luke!" he loudly said with a smile on his face, "You're OK." He ran up to me and gave me a tight and far too intimate hug. "I'm OK," I said. I gave Mike a serious look, signalling that I wasn't happy with him and that we had unfinished issues to discuss. Naomi gave me a hug and said she was glad I was OK. I also noticed Lesley and Mandy. I was surprised to see them. I thought they'd have sailed off on their yacht. I offered my condolences to Lesley in regards to Alex. "Oh, Lesley," I said, "I'm so sorry. I don't know what to say." "I don't know what to say either," she said with anger in her voice, "I am absolutely beside myself. I'm supposed to be on a luxury yacht making my way to the coast of France and instead I'm stuck here in this ... in this.... in this... hostel." "I was talking about your cousin, Alex, dying," I said. "Oh yes of course," said Lesley, "But his pain and suffering is over, it would seem that mine is just starting." "Well, thank God for Mike doing what he did," said Naomi, "It's thanks to him and that big explosion that we all got rescued." "Yeah," I said, glaring at Mike, "He's a real superstar."

I formally introduced myself to Benjamin, Millie and Tina. "Nice to meet in person, at last," I said. As we carried on talking I asked if anyone had noticed that the door to their room was locked. "Yeah, what's that sh*t all about?" said Trudy, pointing at Tina, "I had to share a room with this smelly b*tch. You don't lock up a pregnant woman with a smelly stranger." "I'm not pregnant," said Tina. "I'm talking about me. I'm pregnant, you dozy cow." "Oh is that what that is?" said Tina, "I thought you were just a bit fat." Trudy started to square up to Tina but Naomi stepped in. "Please, Trudy," she said, "Don't start. Not when we've only just got here." "Why did they lock us in the rooms?" I asked, "And why are all the windows boarded shut?" "Security," a voice from behind said. We turned round to see the red haired Adrian stood at the end of the corridor giving us a reassuring smile. "I hope you all slept well," he said, "I know the beds here aren't exactly the most comfortable but don't worry, you'll probably get your chalets soon. The beds there are much more comfortable." "Oi! Mick Hucknall!" shouted Trudy, "Why did you lock us in our rooms? Are we prisoners or something?" "No, not at all," chuckled Adrian, "Locking you in at night and the shutters on the windows is for your own protection. If any infected managed to get in, you'd be safe locked in your rooms." "How can any infected get in?" asked Naomi, "We all saw the big heavy walls around this place when we got here yesterday. There's no way the infected could get passed all that." "Well it's better to be safe than sorry," said Adrian.

I asked Adrian if he had TJ here. Everyone looked confused. "TJ?" asked a bewildered DeShawn, "But TJ's dead isn't he?" "No, he's not," I said, "I saw him outside. He had his leg in plaster. It was definitely him." "Bl**dy hell," said Trudy, "He's finally lost the plot. I knew it was going to happen one day." "That brick must have given you more of a bang than I realised," said Mike, "TJ's dead." "Maybe it was someone that looked like TJ," said Naomi. "It was him!" I loudly said, "It was definitely him!" "Look," said Adrian, "You've all clearly been through a lot since I last saw you. You've experienced a number of deaths, you've all been injured, I think we just need to get you all sorted and that process begins now. We're going to interview you all one by one, and all being well you'll be admitted to Dumpville." "Admitted?" I queried. "Interviews?" said Trudy, "No one told me anything about an interview. I panic in interviews. My words don't come out proper. I get asked questions I don't know the answers to." "What sort of questions?" asked Benjamin. "The usual ones," said Trudy, "Where were you at the time of the robbery? Can you tell me the name of the person in this mug shot? Can you explain why such a large number of flat screen TVs were found in your bedroom?" I rolled my eyes and told Trudy that police interviews aren't the only type of interviews.
