Day 377
Thursday 7th September 2017 21:56

I've finally managed to get hold of something I can use as a diary. What a manic few days it's been! I'm currently writing my diary in the back of Panda's jeep inside an abandoned Kwik Fit. It's going to be another uncomfortable night trying to get to sleep inside this bl**dy vehicle. Mind you, I'm just glad to be alive.

The drama started on Monday when we put our plan into action and headed for the ACROBAT base. As we packed our bags and gathered our weapons, Trudy appeared. She had a fully packed rucksack, a steak knife in her left hand and her coat was zipped up. "You look like you're about to go hiking," I said. "I'm coming with you," said Trudy. "You said you didn't want to come," I said, "Anyway, who's going to look after the kids?" "Meryl and Courtney can look after the kids," said Trudy, "I've been speaking to Mary and I want to show these ACROBAT f*ckers that I'm not taking any sh*t from them." "Are you sure you're up to it?" I asked. "What are you on about?" said Trudy, "Just cos I've spat two sprogs out doesn't mean I can't still knock someone's teeth down their gob." "Spat them out," laughed TJ, "They came out doing cartwheels." "Are you saying I've got a big minge?" snapped Trudy. "Oh God, both of you shut up," said Naomi, "We haven't got time for all this.

Mike, TJ, Mary, Naomi, Trudy and I collected our things, gathered our weapons and got ready to leave. I gave Auntie Meryl a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Don't go worrying about me," I said, "We'll all be back in no time." "Oh, are you all going somewhere?" asked Auntie Meryl. "Yes," I exclaimed, feeling annoyed "We talked about this for ages yesterday." "Talked about what?" asked Auntie Meryl. "We're going to ACROBAT to try and get Seth back," I said. "Going where to get who back?" asked Auntie Meryl. I walked away from Auntie Meryl, rolling my eyes and feeling frustrated. I'm sure she's got a selective memory. It's like as soon as I say something she immediately forgets it. I'm sure she does it to wind me up. Courtney tried to explain things to Auntie Meryl. "Meryl," she said, "Seth is Naomi's husband and he works for GRID – the people who want to destroy the virus that created this whole mess. Now we think he's at this base which has people on it from ACROBAT – they're the people that made this virus and they want to save it. Luke and the others are going to try and get to this ACROBAT base and see if they can get Seth back so we can all get to this underground City One. Do you understand?" There was a pause. Auntie Meryl looked confused, turned her head, pointed at Courtney, looked at me and said "Who's she then?" I told Courtney I appreciated her efforts but that the best thing she could do is just keep Auntie Meryl and the twins company.

I said my goodbyes to Courtney and Auntie Meryl, and then looked over at Lindon who was eating a tin of cold beans in the corner of the room. "Lindon," I sarcastically said, "Try not to have any wild parties whilst I'm gone." Lindon looked at me with a gormless expression and a mouthful of beans. "Will everything be OK?" he asked. "I hope so," I said to him. "I just want us all to stay together," said Lindon. "I know you do," I said, "If we come back with Seth all we need to do then is look for Mia and Amelia and then we're all back together and we can all try and get to City One." Lindon lowered his head and looked sad. "Lindon don't sulk," I said, "If this goes to plan, pretty soon we'll all be on our way to City One." We then gathered our things, said our goodbyes and me, Mary, Naomi, Trudy, Mike and TJ got into Panda's jeep and off we went.

Around 11am we stopped the jeep, parked on the side of one of the rural roads and looked into the distance at the ACROBAT base; a large patch of land surrounded by a multitude of fences, containing various air hangers, bunkers, satellites, futuristic looking buildings and a wide range of tanks and military looking vehicles. "B**dy Hell," said TJ, "It's like something out of James Bond." "It's certainly a lot bigger than I thought," said Naomi. "That's what I thought when I stuck it up Trudy," giggled TJ. "F*ck off you c*ck end," snapped Trudy. "I told you I was telling the truth," Mary snapped at me. "I don't know if we can handle this," I said. "Don't be such a pussy Nanna," said TJ. "TJ, are you blind?" I exclaimed, "There's no way the six of us can take on an outfit like that." "Course we can," said Trudy, "It's not the size of the poo it's the strength of the flush." "Don't worry, Luke," said Mike, "Once I get going I'm unstoppable. It'll take more than a load of infected, hundreds of soldiers, a bunch of weapons and a few tanks to stop me." "Are you kidding?" I said, "I'd struggle just with the infected." "It's like we're going into battle," said Trudy, "I feel like singing a song." "How about 'Eye of the Tiger'?" said TJ, "That's a good song." "I prefer 'Holding out for a Hero'," said Mike. "Oh I like that one," said Trudy, "Bonnie Tyler. She was good in 'Dancing on Ice' wasn't she? Did you know she was in 'Bugsy Malone' too?" "That's Bonnie Langford you daft cow," I said. "What did you call me you sorry saggy sack of sh*t?" snapped Trudy. "Stop fighting," snapped Naomi, "This isn't helping. Look, I want to get Seth back but I think Luke might be right. We can't take all that on." "We have to try," said Mary, "If we capture their men we'll have some leverage. We'll be able to make all the demands we want." "Or they could just shoot us all on the spot and take their men back," I said. "That's why I'll hold one of them hostage outside," said Mike, "Come on we've come this far. We have to try." "You're just looking for an excuse to run around killing people," Naomi said Mike. "If that was true I'd be coming in with you, instead of staying outside with a hostage," said Mike. Naomi and I were feeling slightly more anxious than we thought we would but we continued as planned.
