Day 389
Tuesday 19th September 2017 23:55

Naomi's left (again!)

I got up this morning and found that she was removing the barricade. "What are you doing?" I asked. "What does it look like?" she bluntly said. "Oh so you CAN talk?" I exclaimed, "I thought you'd damaged your vocal cords." "I'll damage more than your vocal cords if you don't shut up," said a firm Naomi. "Look I know you've had a tough time," I said, "But running away isn't the answer." "I'm not running away," said Naomi sounding hard and detached. "Please Naomi," I said, "Don't do this. You ran off before when Sally took Amelia, don't do it again." "I'm not running off," insisted Naomi as she continued removing the barricade. "Just talk to us," I said, "We want to help you." Naomi stopped what she was doing, quickly turned round and stormed up to me. "Listen, Luke," she snapped, right in my face, "I don't want your help, your sympathy or your pity. Just shut up and let me do what I need to do. I know what I'm doing. I'll be back tomorrow, or maybe the day after," She then returned to removing the barricade. "Tomorrow or maybe the day after!" I loudly exclaimed, "Where are you going?" Naomi didn't respond. "Oh God," I said, "You're not going after Goyle are you? For God's sake Naomi, he could be anywhere by now. He might even be dead. Please tell me you're not going back to the ACROBAT base." "I'm not going after Goyle and I'm not going back to the base," said Naomi, "I just need some space from you lot. Your annoying sympathy is smothering me. Anyway, I've heard what you've been saying. You're all worried I'm going to kill Courtney. Well, if I'm not here you don't have to worry about that do you? Anyway, there's something I've got to do." "What!?" I loudly exclaimed, "Tell me what. I could help. I could come with you." "No," said Naomi, "I need to do this on my own. Anyway you've got a broken arm." Naomi grabbed her bag, picked up her large knife and opened the door. "It might not have been Courtney's fault," I said. Naomi looked at me with confusion. "When we buried Seth, we found some gunshot wounds in his chest," I said, "Maybe that's what killed him. It REALLY might not have been Courtney's fault." There was a short silence. Naomi gave me a hard stare, and in a determined and blunt tone she said "It was her fault." Naomi started to leave. "Wait," I said. She turned round and looked at me with an impatient expression. "Promise me you'll come back," I said. There was another short silence. Naomi nodded. "I promise," she said. She then walked out of the house leaning me with a feeling of hopelessness and anxiety.

It's late now and Naomi still isn't back. TJ isn't happy. "We were supposed to come up with a plan today about what we're going to do and where we're going to go," he complained, "Now we've got to stick around here waiting for Wonder Woman to come back." "Her husband's just died," I firmly said, "We need to let her deal with things in her own way. Naomi can look after herself. She'll be back. We just need to wait. We're safe here for now. Anyway, if we do decide to go to City One, Naomi's the only one who's got the map."

I hope Naomi comes back sooner rather than letter. The food is quickly running out and staying in this place long term just isn't a realistic option, not without a lot more food.
