Day 364
Friday 25th August 2017 19:45I'm currently writing my diary in the top of a barn sitting on a big pile of hay after being reunited with some familiar faces.
I woke up this morning in the under construction office block that's in the middle of nowhere feeling apprehensive about the day ahead. I walked over to Naomi who was sat on the crate where she was sat yesterday. "Right," I said, "Come on, let's get back to the others." Naomi looked surprised and confused. "What?" she said. "Well you don't want to stay here do you?" I said. "Luke, I can't come back with you," said Naomi, "Not after what I did." "Look, I'm not over the moon about what you did," I said, "But I can't just leave you here." "Luke, I'm a big girl," said Naomi, "I can look after myself." "Yeah, I was thinking more about the fact that you've got the map of how to get to City One," I said. Naomi looked at me, frowned, produced the map from her pocket and threw it at me. "There," she snapped, "Take it. I'll just stay here and die." "Oh don't be a martyr, Naomi," I said, "It doesn't suit you. Anyway, you're coming with me, or do you really want to stay here on your own?" "All I want is to look for Seth and Amelia," said Naomi. "I want to look for them too," I said, "I want to look for everyone." "You don't care about Seth and Amelia," said Naomi, "You just need him to help you get into City One." "I want us ALL to get to City One," I said in a frustrated tone, "Naomi you need to snap out of this. You're the one usually talking sense into everyone else." "Luke, just take the map and go," said a stroppy Naomi. "No," I said, "You're coming with me. What's wrong with you?" "I can't face TJ and Mike after what I did to Troy and I certainly can't face your Auntie after I put a gun to her head," said Naomi. "Well like I said I'm not over the moon about what you did," I said, "But we'll just explain that you were forced into it by ACROBAT. You were trying to get Seth and Sophie back." "They'll never forgive me," said Naomi, "I can't forgive myself. I won't be able to look them in the eye." "Look, this is what I thought when I killed Ashley and Jessica," I said, "I left and was out there in my own for ages, remember? You've been out here on your own before too. Do you really want to be on your own again? You've made a mistake just like I made a mistake but we can try and get past this. Come on. . ." There was a short contemplative pause. "I'm staying here Luke," said an assertive Naomi, "I'll be OK." "Do you really expect me to just walk away and leave you?" I said. "Well I'm not coming with you," said Naomi. "This is silly," I said, "We're going to the same place, we're looking for the same people. We should stay together." "I'm not coming, Luke!" Naomi loudly snapped. I rolled my eyes, turned my back, clenched my fist, quickly turned back round and attempted to throw a punch at Naomi. She dodged out of the way, I lost my balance, fell over and ended up banging my head on the side of the crate. "Ouch. Ouch. Ouch," I said, tending to the fresh cut on my head, "Ooh that stings." "Did you ACTUALLY just try and punch me?" said a shocked Naomi. "I was trying to knock you out," I said. "What the f*ck would you try and knock me out for?" exclaimed Naomi, "What was the plan? Knock me out and drag me back to the pub? Without a car? On foot? It'll take a day. What did you think I'd do when I regained consciousness? Just enjoy a stroll back to the pub after I realised you'd knocked me out?" "I'm not leaving you here," I said. "God, Luke," said Naomi, "As weird as it sounds I suppose I appreciate you trying to knock me out but I just think you need to accept that this is goodbye." "Would you rather be with us or be on your own?" I bluntly said. "I can't face the others," said Naomi. "That doesn't answer my question," I firmly said, "On your own or with the rest of us? What would you prefer?" "Well I suppose I'd prefer to be with the rest of you," said Naomi, quietly. "Right then," I said with a raised voice and very harsh tone, "Stop feeling sorry for yourself, get off your arse and start thinking of other people instead of yourself. You're intelligent, agile, quick on your feet, a good fighter and we need you and as annoying as we all are, you need us too. So knock it off with all this self pitying sh*t, get a grip and f*cking snap out of it and I mean NOW!" Naomi leaned back and seemed shocked at my authoritative outburst. "Wow," she said, "I think that's the biggest display of balls I've ever seen from you. Talking to me, trying to knock me out, begging me and now having a proper go at me. You really want me to come back with you don't you?" "Of course I do," I said with a smile. "What about the others?" she asked. "It won't be easy," I said, "But I'll talk to them. We can talk to them together. We just need to be honest." After talking for a bit longer we gathered what little belongings we had and left.
