Day 288
Saturday 10th June 2017 23:37What a day! It's been happy, emotional, dramatic, annoying and most importantly; TERRIFYING! There's been a funeral, a wedding, a shooting and Trudy gave birth! I also found out who the big blabber mouth is and the whole of Dumpville was overrun with infected.
The day started with the funerals of the recently murdered soldiers. Most of the attendees were the other soldiers. A few of the residents were there and I observed from afar with Naomi, Seth and DeShawn and some of the others. The soldiers were throwing Seth some really dirty looks. "They're not happy with you," I said to Seth. "They need to grow up," said Naomi, "I know their friends and colleagues have died but it's not like Seth went hunting them down. They were infected. What did they want us to do? Slap them on the wrist and ask them to behave themselves?" "Anyway," said DeShawn, looking at Naomi and Seth "The funerals are nearly over and you guys have got a wedding to get ready for." I felt ever so slightly guilty that we quickly went from attending a serious and solemn funeral to getting ready to celebrate and attend a joyous wedding, but do you know; f*ck it! Every single one of those soldiers knows about The Traders and that DeShawn and I were going to be handed over to them, so I can't get too upset that some of them have died. Some people call it karma.
After the funeral, I was gathered with DeShawn, Naomi, Seth, Lindon and Trudy. "I've had a change of heart," said Naomi. Seth looked panicked. "No," she giggled, "Not about marrying you, about going to City One. I think it's something we should re-consider." "No," said Lindon, "We're all staying here together. We agreed." "Well after what happened yesterday I just think it's something we could reconsider," said Naomi, "I know Seth is happy to go out there every day and bring back food but I don't want my husband risking his life on a daily basis. I know travelling to City One will be dangerous but maybe it's a risk worth taking if it means we have a real chance of a long term and safer future where people don't have to risk their lives on a daily basis looking for food." "Well we would be looked after by Government officials," said Seth. "Hang on," I said, "This is another bl**dy u turn. I thought we all agreed to stay here." "That was before yesterday," said Naomi, "I'm thinking about what's best for Amelia and Trudy's baby. I'm thinking about what's best for all of us." "Well I'm in," said Trudy, "I was in before. I don't want to bring my baby up in this sh*t hole." TJ, Troy and Mia then appeared. We told them what we were talking about. "No, we can't leave," said Mia, "It's not safe out there. Look what happened yesterday." "That's exactly why we should leave," said Naomi, ""Or at least think about it." "No, we have to stay here," said Lindon. "You just wanted us to stay together," Seth said to Lindon, "We can all stay together at City One." "No!" Lindon loudly said, sounding like a stroppy child, "We all have to stay together here." "Look you weird corpse shagger, if you want to stay here then you can stay here but I'm off," said an assertive Trudy. "Well it's just something we should talk about," said Naomi. "Well I could get us there," said Seth, "I mean, I'm happy staying here but if people want to go to City One I'll take us there. After what happened yesterday I can understand what Naomi's saying." "Calm down Jack Bauer," said TJ, "You said the people in this place might not let us in. You said it could have all gone to sh*t." "Yeah well I still think it could be a risk worth taking," said Naomi. "Look," said Seth, "We don't have to make a decision now but I can definitely get us there. It's something we can talk about tomorrow, but today, let's focus on mine and Naomi's wedding."
As everyone was getting ready for Naomi and Seth's wedding, I went round to see Trudy. "What do you want?" she asked, "I'm busy trying to find something to wear for this wedding. I don't have any outfits that are suitable and I can't exactly turn up in a pair of tracksuit bottoms or leggings can I?" "Don't stress about it," I said, "Seth and Naomi aren't getting dressed up. It's not like we have access to an abundance of suits and white dresses." "Look, Luke," said Trudy, "You might be alright going to a wedding looking like a burst sack of sh*t but I'm a girl, I've got to look good." "Naomi's a girl," I said, "I'm sure she'd like to get married in something other than a pair of jeans and a T-Shirt but she hasn't much choice; her and Seth just want to get married. They're not bothered what they look like." "B*llocks," said Trudy, "I know we're living in an apocalypse but I'm telling you, she'll be running around as we speak looking for something to wear that makes her look more like a Disney princess and less like a Syrian refugee and I want to look half decent too." As Trudy continued rummaging through her drawers and wardrobe I told her that Seth told me she wanted to give birth outside Dumpville. "God he's got a big gob," said an angry Trudy, "Anyway it doesn't matter, it looks like we're off now." "I just don't understand why you would want to give birth, on your own, outside when you could get attacked by infected," I said, "Wouldn't you rather give birth in here where it's safe and you've got access to a Doctor." "It's none of your business," snapped Trudy, "Anyway I got attacked by infected yesterday and dealt with it and I'll deal with it again." "Dealing with some infected when you've got weapons, a car and some help from Seth is different to dealing with infected when you're on all fours, screaming in pain and pushing a little person out of your crotch," I said. "Stop going on about it," said Trudy, "It's my problem not yours." "I just don't understand why you want to leave here and go it alone," I said, "Is something going on?" "Nothing's going on," said Trudy, "I just want to bring my baby up away from this place and after the discussions we had earlier on it looks like that might be happening, now get lost and let me get ready for this wedding." I kept pressing Trudy but she kept changing the subject and avoiding my questions. "Why don't you want to talk about this?" I asked. "You know I want to leave," said Trudy, "It's all I've been talking about for the past few days." "Yeah but that's when we were ALL going to leave," I said. "And now it looks like we might ALL be leaving," said Trudy. "Well, don't you think you should talk to TJ?" I said, "He might have something to say about you taking his child away." "Look, Luke," said Trudy, "You're starting to proper p*ss me off now." "I just don't understand why you'd want to leave and go it alone with a new born baby in tow," I said. "You don't have to understand it!" Trudy snapped, "It's none of your business. I'm doing what I think is best for my baby!" "How the Hell is that best for your baby?" I asked. "Just give it a rest!" snapped Trudy, "Now sod off and I'll see you at the church in a bit." Trudy's attitude was really annoying me and it p*ssed me off that she was more bothered about finding a decent outfit than talking about her plans to leave with her baby. I was clearly getting on Trudy's nerves so I left with the full intention of talking to her about the matter later on.
