Day 255
Monday 8th May 2017 20:12It's been a difficult day and it all kicked off in Triton's when Dump started speaking to everyone.
Dump gave his usual Tannoy announcement about the day's forthcoming events. He also reminded everyone that all residents were expected in Triton's in the afternoon where he was going to explain about recent events.
Everyone's still talking about Roger abusing Sophie. The good thing about that is that no one is talking about me being a paedo anymore which I'm relieved about. We still have a therapist here who's experienced in supporting abused children which is a stroke of luck. At least Sophie can get some professional support.
I saw Debra earlier on. She told me she didn't want to be in Dumpville anymore and that being outside was less dramatic than being in here. I told Debra not to make and rash decisions and to think things through. I told her that Mary had left which she was really shocked about. After I'd explained what happened and how Mary preferred to be outside then quarantined, Debra said she was glad she'd gone. "With any luck those horrible infected things will rip off her face," she said, "After what she did to my son and my family I hope she suffers like we all did." "I was there when she left," I said, "She asked me to tell you she was sorry." "Sorry?" said Debra, "She's not sorry. She's just sorry she got caught, and now instead of answering for what she did, instead of being held prisoner and being made accountable for her crimes, this world we now live in allows her to walk away from it and have her freedom." "Well I'm not sure how much freedom she has out there with the infected," I said. "I don't care," said Debra, "She still gets to walk away, take no responsibility for what she did and not answer for abusing my son. That leaves me here, all alone with the horrible memories of what happened." Debra gave me a determined look. "Well that's my mind made up," she said, "If Mary can walk around and be free then so I can I." I took that to mean she was going to tell Dump she wanted to leave.
After I'd finished work I was sat outside the amusement arcades with Naomi and Amelia. I asked Naomi how she was feeling after yesterday. "A bit weird," I said, "I never expected Mary to leave. I just wanted her kept away from the kids." "Well she's gone now," I said, "Let's hope she's OK." "You never know," said Naomi, "She might bump into Mike." "If he's still alive," I said, "Although I'm not sure Mike and Mary is the best pairing." As we continued talking Mia came up to us. "Have you seen Mary?" she asked, "I haven't seen her all day and the Kids Club's closed." Naomi and I exchanged awkward looks which Mia noticed. "What's going on?" she asked. "You'll find out later on," said Naomi, "Dump's going to talk to everyone in Triton's." Mia looked worried. "What's happened?" she asked, "Is Mary OK?" I gave Naomi a hopeless look. "We might as well tell her," I said, "Everyone's going to find out later on this afternoon." I took a deep breath, gave Mia a sympathetic look and told her that Mary had gone. "Gone?" queried Mia, "What do you mean Gone? Gone where?" "She's left Dumpville," I said. Mia looked at Naomi who gave her another sympathetic look. This confirmed I was telling the truth. "What do you mean? Why's she gone?" asked Mia. "It's hard to say," I said, "We found out she'd done something and it meant she had to go." "Done something?" questioned Mia, "What do you mean? What's she done?" "Dump's going to be talking about it later on," I said. Mia looked like a rabbit in the headlights. Her shocked expression then turned to anger and sadness. "Did you send her away?" she firmly asked. I looked at Naomi and then looked back at Mia. I started to explain things but Mia interrupted me. "You did, didn't you!?" she loudly and angrily said, "You sent her away. You sent her away like you sent Mike away." "No," I said, "It wasn't like that. This was different." "Why do you keep sending people away!?" snapped Mia, sounding upset, "Mary was there for me when Hilary was raping me and hurting me and you've just sent her away." "Mia, listen to me," I said, "I haven't sent her away." Mia shook her head and walked off. I need to talk to her.
