Day 309
Saturday 1st July 2017 23:11
Well I'm out of the sh*tty little pub kitchen and I've been reunited with some familiar faces; one in particular I didn't expect to see.It was mid-afternoon and I was sat in the kitchen, feeling sorry for myself and wondering what I was going to do to get some food when I heard an engine revving up outside. I walked over to the window and looked through the shutters and I could see Lauren and Sarah's camper van zooming around the town square. Yes! I thought to myself, they've come to find me. As the large motorhome sped around the square bashing into infected, causing many to be flung across the road, I realised I had to let them know where I was. I couldn't get out of the window because of the big shutters and I couldn't get out of the door due to the infected outside so I didn't know what to do. I quickly looked around the room for something I could use to draw Sarah and Lauren's attention. Thankfully there was a small mirror on the wall next to one of the dressers. I picked up one of the chairs and forcefully shoved the legs into the mirror, smashing it. I quickly picked up a large piece of broken mirror, ran back to the windows and started using the smashed piece of glass to reflect the sunlight, beaming through the gaps in the shutters, towards the camper van. After a few moments Sarah and Lauren noticed the light reflecting and they could just about see me through the gaps in the shutters. Lauren started waving at me and I started jumping up and down with joy. "I'm here!" I yelled in excitement, "I'm here!" Lauren and Sarah couldn't stop because they were being chased by infected. If the camper van had parked up the infected might have pushed it over. As the motorhome continued zooming around the square, I could see Lauren was trying to say something to me but I couldn't tell exactly what it was.
After a few moments, Lauren positioned the camper van outside the pub and started honking the horn. I thought she was trying to tell me to come out and get in the camper van. "Yeah, I know you're here," I said, "But I can't get out." I looked through the gaps in the shutters and saw that the infected that were outside the kitchen door were running out of the building and towards the camper van. The noise of the horn was attracting them. I'm not sure if this is what Lauren was intending but it now meant that the majority of the infected that were in the pub and in my vicinity were now running after the camper van. Using my hands I signalled to Lauren that she should drive around the square. This would mean that she'd be leading the infected away, making it easier for me to get out and then by the time she drove back round to the pub I could get in the camper van and we could drive off.
Lauren, again, drove the campervan around the square, this time being chased by at least a hundred infected. I grabbed the large carving fork and my large kitchen knife, ran to the door and pressed my ear against it. I couldn't hear anything, so with a deep breath and feeling anxious, I gritted my teeth, grabbed my weapons and quickly opened the door. I jumped out into the bar and saw two stray infected right in front of me. "SH*T!" I yelled. As the pair of gory flesh eaters ran towards me, I turned and retreated back into the kitchen. However, I tripped on a bit of frayed carpet, fell on to the kitchen floor and as I turned and looked up, the first approaching infected threw himself at me. I quickly rolled out of the way, leapt to my feet and ran over to the shutters. Primed and ready for action, I took a firm grip of the carving fork, quickly and violently shoved the pronged end through the first approaching infected man's eye and pushed it through to his brain. I used the dead infected man as a barrier between me and the second infected who was now reaching over the dead one's shoulders. Using the carving fork handle as a steering mechanism, I did all I could to move the dead infected man around, using him as a shield to keep me safe from the other infected assailant's terrifying assault. As I veered from left to right I was suddenly consumed with a feeling of frustration and determination. I gave a loud roar and pushed the carving fork even further through the dead infected man's head causing the pronged end to break through the decaying skull and plunge into the other infected man's eye. Using all my strength, I gripped the carving fork handle and with one final shove I pushed the kitchen implement through the first infected man's head and all the way through the brain of the second infected man. I abandoned the carving fork, kicked both infected to the ground and ran back into the bar. Armed with my kitchen knife I quickly made my way to the main doors when I heard a noise. "HELP!" the voice yelled, "PLEASE HELP ME!" I turned and saw that the noise was coming from a door that led to the beer cellar. This was the person who was on the level below me and banging on the ceiling. I stood in the middle of the bar and looked to the right where I could hear Lauren and Sarah approaching the pub, and then to the left where I could hear the muffled sounds of a trapped man, desperate for help. Torn between helping out someone who needed it and getting to safety as quickly as possible, I decided to help the unknown person in need and ran over to the door. It was a strong wooden door that was locked. I remembered I'd seen a few bunches of keys on hooks behind the bar. "Hang on!" I shouted to the person behind the door. I jumped behind the bar, grabbed all the sets of keys, returned to the strong wooden door and started trying to unlock it using each key in turn. "Come on!" the voice shouted, "Get me out!" "I'm trying!" I snapped, "Just shut up, you'll attract the infected."
