Day 391
Thursday 21st September 2017 22:07Naomi's still not back.
Mike said he'd go out and look for her but Trudy stepped in and strongly objected. "No!" she firmly and loudly said, "I'm sick of all this; people leaving all the time and going off on some f*cking mystery mission. Lindon's right, we should be sticking together, not walking away from each other. OK, it's not great that Nicola left and I am worried about her, but if we all start leaving we'll just make the problem worse. So no one is going anywhere." "Trudy we have to go and find her," I said. "No we don't," say Trudy, "She wanted to do this on her own." "But she said she'd back and she isn't," I said. "I know that, I'm not f*cking blind," said Trudy. "She might have run into trouble," I said, "Maybe she's been captured by ACROBAT or maybe the infected have trapped her." "Even if she is in trouble what are we going to do?" said Trudy, "A social outcast who shags dead bodies and a goggly eyed gimp with a tiny c*ck and a broken arm. I mean, where will you even start looking for her? She could be anywhere? She didn't even tell you where she was going or why." "I can't just sit here and do nothing," I said. "Yes you can," Trudy firmly said, "Every time we go outside there's some sort of drama or someone dies. I've got two kids to look after. You've got your Auntie. Just stop." "So you just expect me to stay here and do nothing," I said. "Going out there and driving around looking for a missing person who could be absolutely anywhere is mental," said Trudy, "Doing it with a broken arm and when there's Sci Fi soldiers after us is VERY mental."
We carried on talking and Mike interjected. "We need food anyway," he said, "I could drive around, bring us back something to eat and keep an eye out for Naomi at the same time." There was a moment of silence. Trudy looked uncertain. "Well if you're going to do that try not to go too far," she said, "We don't want anyone else going missing." I could see Trudy's point of view but it doesn't stop me worrying about Naomi.
Whilst Mike was out, the rest of us spoke about whether or not to go to City One. I still thought it was worth pursuing, as did Courtney and Josh. "I don't want to go," said Lindon, "I want us all to stay together." "Give it a rest you f*cking weirdo," said Trudy. "If we all go together to City One then we'll all BE together," I said. "It's too dangerous out there," said Lindon, "People keep dying." "We'll probably all die if we stay here," I said. "And we might all die out there on the road," said TJ, "Anyway we're hardly doing a good job of sticking together are we? Troy, Mary and Seth got killed, Matt and the bears buggered off, Mia didn't want to come back and Naomi's gone off on some wild goose chase to God knows where doing God knows what." "We've got a good chance of long term survival at City One," I said. "We HAD a chance when Seth was alive," said TJ, "We haven't got a cat in Hell's chance now. Just because Naomi's drawn a map doesn't mean it's enough to get us to City One and even if it does, why would the GRID lot let us in? They don't owe us anything. Who the f*ck are we to them?" "Seth said. . . " I started to say. "Seth's dead," said TJ interrupting me, "Look if you want to traipse all the way to bl**dy London thinking that you've got a chance of getting into this City One place then you go for it, Nanna. I'm staying here." "So you're just going to stay here forever are you?" I bluntly asked. "I'm not thinking about forever," said TJ, "I'm just trying to get through day by day. I think that's all any of us can do now." I still think that going to City One could be a realistic long term option but it looks like TJ and Trudy want to stay here.
Mike came back with food, water and baby stuff. He said he didn't see Naomi but did enjoy killing a few infected. I asked Mike if he wanted to stay here or go to City One. He said he's not sure. He wants to stay with me but he doesn't want to leave his nephews. "Well we need to come to a decision," I said, "And ideally it needs to be unanimous." "Wouldn't it be better if we all agreed on what we're going to do," said Mike. "That's what unanimous means, Mike," I said.
I hope Naomi comes back soon. We can then sit down and talk about what we're going to do calmly and rationally.
