Day 234
Monday 17th April 2017 21:31

It's been an infuriating day. Dump spoke to all of the residents about recent events and he gave me, Naomi and DeShawn a proper telling off.

Everyone was summoned into Triton's where Dump was waiting on stage to address us all. As Adrian's now dead there was no one to give him his usual grand introduction. I was huddled with DeShawn, Naomi and some of the others. Dump came on stage and he looked a bit stressed but it was obvious he was trying to appear in control. "My fellow Dumpville residents," he said, "I am sure you don't need me to tell you how horrific and terrifying the awful and catastrophic events of Saturday were. We lost people; six people; six good people. There will be a funeral service tomorrow afternoon for the people we lost and everyone is welcome to attend." Everyone started loudly asking Dump what he was going to do to keep everyone safe. There was an element of rowdiness and unrest in the air. "Bl**dy Hell," said Trudy, "It looks like there's going to be a riot and they're not pretty I can tell you." "So speaks the voice of an ex-jail bird," said TJ, "What were you in prison for? Crimes against fashion?" "No," said Trudy, "I murdered a tall lanky pr*ck who couldn't keep his mouth shut and kept bullsh*tting and taking the p*ss every five minutes. Sound familiar?" Dump did his best to try and reassure everyone but it was obvious he was struggling to handle things. Dump looked towards the back of the room, towards the bar. It looked he was beckoning someone to come and join him. As the crowds got rowdier and the volume increased, the six Army sergeants joined Dump on stage. "What's the public display of masculinity about?" asked Naomi. "This is Dump's way of showing us he's in charge," said DeShawn, "He's trying to intimidate us and convince us he's still got control of this place." "He still HAS got control," I said, "He's telling the sergeants what to do and they're doing it." "I know you are all scared and concerned," Dump loudly announced, "But I assure you the events of Saturday were a one off." The crowds started getting loud and raucous again. The sergeants stepped forward, gripped their machine guns and armed themselves. This looked scary and everyone seemed very intimidated. Silence fell and Dump continued. "I am trying to restore order," he announced, "And I am trying to reassure you that you are all safe here." "By having soldiers point guns at us?!" Naomi loudly called out. The crowds again started getting rowdy but this time the sergeants didn't just step forward and look intimidating, they raised their machine guns and fired a few shots into the air. People screamed, some winced and other gasped in shock. I couldn't believe what was happening. It was like marshal law. "Oh my God," said Naomi, "What the Hell is going on?" "I need all of you to be quiet," said Dump as a rivulet of sweat trickled down his forehead. He said he was introducing a check-in system which means that as of tomorrow morning it will be mandatory for all residents to report to the main building by 9am every day and 9pm every night. Dump said that this would ensure the safety of all residents and that everyone's whereabouts would always be accounted for. Talk about big brother gone mad! In a weird way I could see why Dump had introduced this scheme but I also thought this just compounded the feeling of being treated like a prisoner. Residents weren't happy and as they all voiced their frustration, the sergeants again stepped forward and gave the impression they were once again going to start shooting. The rowdiness stopped and then Dump said the new check in rules would start from tomorrow and that for now we were all free to go and he hoped to see us at the funeral service tomorrow. Before Dump left the stage he announced that he'd like Naomi, DeShawn and I to meet him in his office in the main building. Here we go, I thought to myself.

As I stood with Naomi and DeShawn in Dump's office I felt like a naughty boy who had been called to see the Head Teacher. As the three of stood there, Dump sat in his large leather chair giving us a disapproving look. "I have spoken to Troy," said Dump, "And made it clear that his behaviour in Triton's was disgusting and unacceptable. However as his fellow Homosexual sodomite lover has recently lost his life I have decided to be lenient with him." Dump then looked at me and frowned. "You and Troy's disgusting behaviour and public display of Homosexuality was unacceptable," Dump said to me, "Not only were there children around but it was my wife's birthday and you and Troy ruined it." "OK," I said, "A few things; first of all I'm not gay. Troy dragged me on to the dance floor and snogged me because he wanted to make a stand and Benjamin wasn't about. Second of all, what does it matter if there were children around? It was a kiss, not a f*ck." "Stop that language," said Dump, "I don't appreciate it. Now you owe my wife an apology. She is distraught that her 28th birthday was ruined." "Twenty-eight!" exclaimed Naomi, looking at Dump, "If she's under forty, you're underweight." "You see that's your problem," said Dump, "You don't know when to keep your mouth shut. I think you three need reminding that I am in charge around here, especially after recent events. Your actions were thoughtless and barbaric." "Barbaric!" exclaimed Naomi, "Have you ever actually come face to face with the infected?" "That's not the issue here," said Dump. "Yes it is," said an angry Naomi "I'm not going to stand here and be lectured about right and wrong by a man who's never even seen the infected in the flesh." "Quiet!" said Dump with a loud and strong tone of authority in his voice, "I am asking questions and you are providing answers. I am talking and you are listening." Naomi started to argue with Dump but he interrupted her. "QUIET!" he loudly shouted. I jumped back a bit. I was surprised at how loud he was able to raise his voice. Dump said that when Naomi, DeShawn and I killed the infected we scared people and caused fear and panic to spread across Dumpville. He said we clearly showed no consideration and just acted without thinking. This was like being told off my Hairy Mary again. It's obvious this guy hasn't got a clue when it comes to the infected. "We've dealt with the infected before," said DeShawn, "You've just got to kill them. It's as simple as that. That's the world we live in now." "No," said Dump, "That's the world out there. In here it's different. In here we are civilised. In here we have calm and we have order." "You didn't have order the other day when infected were running around," said Naomi, "What happened wasn't our fault. Tina killed herself and she came back and the infection spread like wild fire. That's what happens now. If anyone in here dies, they'll come back. You don't destroy their brain." "Naomi's right," said DeShawn, "If we hadn't have killed the infected when we did, more people would have died." "You should have left it to the soldiers," said Dump, "They would have restrained the infected and quarantined them." "Restrained?!" exclaimed Naomi, "Is that the plan? If infected get in, the soldiers restrain them?" "I've been in places where infected have been separated from normal people but it's still not safe," I said, "It never is. To stay safe you need stab them in the head." "In here, that's not your decision to make," said Dump, "It's mine and while you're in Dumpville you'll abide by my rules. I am the leader here, I manage the sergeants and the soldiers and I will not tolerate any violent behaviour of any kind for any reason." "You should be thanking us for keeping people safe," said Naomi. "Keeping people safe?!" exclaimed Dump with slight laughter in his voice, "All you did was scare people and make them wary of you." "Are you serious?" Naomi loudly exclaimed, "You're talking to us about scaring people and making them feel wary, after you've just stood on stage in front of everyone, pointed guns at them, fired shots in the air, raised your voice and barked orders at them." "Things need to change around here," I said, "You've lost your adviser and your only Doctor. We know how to handle the infected and we can help you." "I don't need or want your help," said Dump, "I still have six sergeants and a team of soldiers under my charge." "But you don't know what you're doing when it comes to the infected," said Naomi, "If you think restraint is going to work more people are going to die in here and it'll be your fault." Dump didn't like this. He frowned and looked very angry. He slowly stood up and gave Naomi an intense and unhappy stare. "Now listen to me little girl," Dump intimidatingly said, "This is MY place. I am in charge, and you and your two little friends here are only here because I let you stay here. If I think you're going to cause upset or disrupt my routine, I have the power to throw you out of here." F*cking Hell, I thought to myself. This was the most intense and scary I'd ever seen Dump. "Are you threatening us?" asked Naomi. There was a pause. The silence lingered for a while. Dump leaned in closer to Naomi, smiled and said "Yes."

When Naomi, DeShawn and I left we felt slightly taken aback. I expected Dump to act like a tw*t but his response was something else. I wasn't expecting that! Naomi was angry. "I can't believe I've got to be that arsehole's PA," she said. "I can't believe I've got to clean his f*cking house," said DeShawn. I reminded DeShawn that it was a good thing he was cleaning Dump's house because it meant there were more opportunities for him to do some snooping. After today it seems that residents are starting to question Dump's leadership and I think this might be time for us to exploit this opportunity. The problem is that people are still looking at me, DeShawn and Naomi like we're a bunch of weirdos.

Tomorrow's going to be another tense and stressful day. A funeral service for six people with all of the associated tension and problematic issues isn't something I'm looking forward to but I guess I need to pay my respects, especially to Benjamin and Tina. I just know it's going to be uncomfortable but I think it'll be worse if I don't go.
