Day 285
Wednesday 7th June 2017 22:48

Oh my God! What a day! There's been a shock discovery which has completely changed the group dynamics and there's been so much that's gone on today my head is spinning.

The day started with Dump and Reed releasing me, DeShawn and Simon from quarantine. They told us to behave ourselves and not cause any trouble. I said that we were still running low on food and asked what was going to be done about this. "That's not your problem, it's mine," said Dump, "So you let me worry about that." "Well if the food's running out it's everyone's problem," I said. "Shut your mouth," Reed said firmly. Simon casually and cheerily said he wasn't sure how long he'd be staying. "I'll let you know when I'm ready to go," he said, "I trust me getting my jeep back won't be a problem." Reed and Dump exchanged awkward and unhappy looks. "No, problem at all," said Dump, sounding annoyed, "We hope you enjoy your brief stay with us." Reed took a step closer to me and DeShawn. "I'd avoid my men if I were you," he said with a firm tone, "They're not happy that you killed their colleagues." "Well we're not happy that they were going to hand us over to a bunch of strangers," said DeShawn, "And if your men say anything to us, we'll tell them that we had no choice but to fight for our lives and kill them." "I wouldn't say anything if I were you," said Reed. "Well you've brought Simon, here," Dump said to me and DeShawn, "So he can sleep on one of your sofas." "I'm fine with that," said Simon, "Now I think I'll have a look around this place and familiarize myself with a few things before I speak to everyone." Simon pointed at Reed and gave him a warm smile. "Sergeant Reed, you can sort that out for me can't you? A chance for me to introduce myself and talk to everyone?" Simon asked. Reed didn't look happy but reluctantly agreed to Simon's request. "Thank you," said Simon looking at Reed and Dump, "I'll come and have a chat with you later. Depending on people's response to my talk later, I think we'll have a lot to discuss." Reed and Dump looked angry and they squirmed a bit. Simon totally owned them. I was loving it.

As me, DeShawn and Simon entered Dumpville, we made our way down Main Street. "This place looks quite impressive," said Simon, "It's a lot better than I thought. Those walls looks pretty strong. Infected won't be able to past them." DeShawn and I explained about when the infected were inside and how we dealt with it. "OK," said Simon, "But the walls themselves haven't been damaged or knocked down?" "No," I said, "I guess the walls are pretty strong. Anyway, come on. I want to introduce you to people. We need to start planning Dump's demise and getting out of here." "Just before we start all that," said Simon, "I have a confession. I haven't been entirely honest with you." I was suddenly very anxious and cautious. "What do you mean?" asked DeShawn. Simon's facial expression suddenly and dramatically changed. He appeared shocked as he stood frozen to the spot. I looked confused. "What's up?" I asked. His shocked expression suddenly turned to one of extreme delight. He smiled and a tear ran down his face. I followed his gaze and saw that he was looking at the end of Main Street near the entrance to Triton's where Naomi happened to be standing. "What is it?" I asked, "Do you know her?" "Know her?" said Simon with a look of glee. Naomi turned her head and noticed Simon starring at her. She responding with a similar look of unexpected and extreme joy. The next thing I knew, Naomi and Simon started running towards each other. They met in the middle of Main Street and engaged in a fierce embrace and a passionate kiss. DeShawn and I exchanged confused looks and joined them. "So I suppose you two know each other?" I said. Naomi looked at me with absolute delight on her face as tears of joy ran down her cheeks. "This is Seth!" she exclaimed. There was a pause. Naomi was waiting for mine and DeShawn's response but we just looked at her blankly. "What?" I said. "Seth!" Naomi exclaimed loudly, "Seth! You know Seth! I've told you all about him. We had a baby together when we were kids, I had to give her away, he moved to Scotland, don't you remember? I've told you all this!" "His name's Simon," said DeShawn. "Err . . . yeah," said Simon/Seth, "That's what I've been meaning to tell you. Remember when we first met and I said it's sometimes necessary to lie about your name, well my real name's Seth." "WHAT?!" I yelled. "You've been lying to us?" asked an angry DeShawn. "Only about my name. Everything else is true," said Seth. "We've only got your word for that!" I snapped, "If you've lied to us about your name what else have you lied to us about?!" "Look, can we do this later please?" said Seth, "This is my one true love I told you about and I want to spend some time with her." He looked at Naomi and kissed her. "I can't believe you're here," he said. "Yeah," said DeShawn with an angry and sarcastic tone, "Awfully convenient isn't it?" "What are you trying to say?" asked Seth. "Yeah, what's with the attitude, DeShawn?" asked Naomi, "You've only just got back here, don't start causing trouble. I've been reunited with my teenage sweetheart, this is a great day, you should be happy for me, don't ruin this for us!" "Look," said Seth, "I accept that this does look suspicious but us meeting was purely coincidental. I saw you out on the road and you looked like you needed help. I didn't know who you were and I didn't know anything about this place. I know you mentioned someone called Naomi but I didn't think you meant MY Naomi. It really is just a coincidence. A happy coincidence but just a coincidence nonetheless." "You still lied to us about your name," I said. "That's my training," said Seth, "I know what bad things can happen when people know your real name. I told you, remember? I wanted to make sure you were telling the truth about this place and that you were going to get me here before I told you my real name." "So what else have you lied to us about?" asked DeShawn, "Does this City One even exist?" "Hang on," said Naomi, "Now I don't know what's gone on between you three out there but right now I don't care. I'm glad you're both back but right now I want to spend some time on my own with this amazing man." Naomi grabbed hold of Seth who shrugged his shoulders and told us he'd chat to us later. Naomi then dragged him off and I didn't see him again until later on.
