Karai POV
I open the door for dad and let him inside.
-I already apologized.
Ha-Is not about that. Is there anything you want to talk about?
I shrug trying my best not to say anything and he smiles patting my head a bit. I smile and for the first time I feel confused, sad, shy and not able to share something with him.
Ha-What's bothering you?
I am not sure what to do so I hug him a bit afraid and I feel insecure for the first time in years. He hugs me back gently and he gets me on the bed as he, as always, massages my wings.
Ha-I see you still have the tiger I got you at the zoo when you were five.
-I never got rid of it. Is a bit broken but is special.
Ha-Do you want another one?
-Don't worry about it. That one is just fine.
Ha-Are you sure?
-Yes dad, don't worry about it. When I want one you'll be the first to know.
Ha-Ok.
He finishes and as he's about to go away I hold his hand stopping him. I talk in a whisper.
-Stay.
He sits at my side and I lie down my head on his chest.
Ha-Do you want to tell me?
-Another time.
Ha-Ok. I'm here for anything you need. Take your time.
He passes his hand through my hair and I sigh. Not long after I fall asleep on top of him.
Hades POV
I stay with Karai for the night. When she falls asleep I get us lying down on the bed and I see as she sheds a single tear that I clean away.
-What can be so bad that you don't speak it with me. My princess.
I turn around looking at the ceiling and I recall when she was little. She would pull on my jacket or my shirt when she wanted something. She would hug my leg tight when she didn't wanted to be away from me and she would slip on our bed between Hera and myself when she had nightmares. I chuckle a bit at that when I hear her groan a bit.
K-Mm, ngh, no.
I shush her a bit until she calms down. I laugh as is the first time she speaks on her sleep. I hug her close to me and she rests easy the rest of the night. I stay awake in case she has a nightmare again but she doesn't. The next morning when she wakes up I give her my best smile.
-Morning sleeping beauty.
K-Hmm. Can I stay home today?
-Thought as much so we're all staying home. How was your sleep?
K-So so. Why?
I look at her and tell her.
-You talk on your sleep.
She looks at me a bit scared.
K-What did you hear?
-You said no in a way like you were suffering. Were you suffering?
K-Not really, it was a good dream actually.
She yawns stretching her arms before she hugs me gently.
K-I almost never sleep like this. I always shape shift.
-Because of the wings?
She nods and then she smiles devilishly at me. She turns into the kitty I like so much and she gets on my lap. I laugh as I pet her a bit.
-My favorite.
She purs and I laugh a bit as I scratch her a bit as well. I take her up and I look at her eyes.
-You're cute. Come on, let's go eat.
She gets out of my grip and turns back to herself. She takes my hand and she pulls me with her.
K-Come on. Let's go then.
She lifts us both as she starts to fly. She throws me up in the air and for a moment I am utterly terrified for my life until she catches me in both her arms.
K-I got you.
-Don't do that. Ever again. Where are you going?
K-We are going down to earth. Long way so hold tight and enjoy the trip.
I take the hint and enjoy as she flies slowly.
Karai POV
I fly slowly as I want to give dad a good show. I want to get away from everything today. Work, secret admirers and just be free. I have dad on my arms and I smile at the thought. I pass over the forests evading skillfully the trees and I show him everything from my perspective.
Ha-Karai. Do you think you could.........
He blushes and I know what he's going to say so I change the position in which I'm carrying him holding him with my arms around his torso. He gets his hands on top of mine and I can tell he's tense. After a bit he relaxes as I cross rivers and valleys. I turn to the city and as I do the buildings get taller and taller and there is more noise. As we pass the airport I have an idea.
-Let me show you something. Be sure you're awake. Flying gets you sleepy.
Ha-I'm awake. What are you planning on doing?
-You'll see.
I go to where the planes are taking off and I follow one that is about to leave. I follow it until is high on the sky where I step up and fly a bit faster. I pass behind the wing and I see through the windows the people asleep, watching TV, reading, eating or watching us. I smile and dad is a bit relaxed. I take a powerful flap and step up my speed going to the front of the plane. I see the pilots confused and then dad taps my arm.
Ha-Do you smell that?
I turn to smell and sharpen my senses. The smell reaches my nose and I hold dad tighter.
-We have to warn them.
Ha-I can stay on the plane's roof if you want to help now.
I fly up and slowly let him on top of the plane. I turn to see where is it leaking and I find it just when it explodes in fire. I turn to the pilots and motion for them to calm down.
-Calm down.
I mimicks a calming movement and he shows me a book with how to fix the problem. I give him thumbs up and jump backwards getting below the plane. I am not the best person but I can try. It said to cut the red one but there are multiple red cables. I cut the one I think it is and I realize it was not it when the plane wheels get out.
-Damn.
I cut another one and this time is worse. The plane starts to fall tail first and I hear dad.
Ha-Karai!
I throw myself after the plane and I reach out for it. I'm almost there.
-Damn, dad!
He gets up the plane closer to me and he stretches one hand to me while holding the plane with the other. I grab onto him and I get closer to the plane. I grab it with both hands and groan as I try to stop it from falling. I flap my wings furiously holding all of us up. Somehow I manage to get it to stop from a certain explosion but is still going down. I see as dad slips at the side and fear overcomes me.
-Dad!
Ha-I'm fine. Just getting to the wing. So they call for help.
Hades POV
I get myself down on the wing. I step on it and I hold my hand on a edge. I knock on the window and when the person looks at me I mimicks a phone on my ear. She shows it to me and I nod as she calls for help. We feel as the plane stumbles a little and I almost fall too. I turn to Karai.
-Karai?
K-Fine just, let me concentrate.
I turn back to the passenger and she writes something in a piece of paper. She holds it out for me and I read it. It reads that there are police below waiting for us.
K-Dad, hold on to something really tight. About to land.
Not soon after she says that the plane stumbles a bit on the ground below. She starts lowering the point and I accommodate on the wing. Another stumble and the entire plane is on the ground. She gets to the door and she rips it off. She gets me inside and she stays like that. I turn to the passengers and ask.
-Injuries?
They all decline and I help them one by one out of the plane. Karai gets them to the ground and tells them to stay together for the moment. The last ones to go out are the flight attendants followed by the pilots. When we are all out Karai flies up and she flaps her wings with power getting the fog away to reveal firetrucks, ambulances, rescue and police and some TV crew. She lands at my side and she goes down on her knees.
-You ok?
K-Yeah. Just tired.
-So much for taking a free day and relax.
K-At least is different from what we usually do.
I smile at her and she rests a bit when we hear people coming towards us.
Reporter-Are you the ones who saved this plane from crashing?
Reporter2-What is your name? How did you.....
I step in between them stopping them from coming closer.
-ENOUGH!!!!!
I try to keep them at bay when I hear her speak.
K-Dad. Take me home. I'm tired.
I turn to her and I give her a hug.
-Shush. Come here, I'm here. I'll take you home.
I take her on my arms and I turn away inside of one of the ambulances. She still awake but it doesn't hurt to check if she's fine.
K-I'm fine, just tired. I feel better already.
I sit at her side and give her a side hug and a kiss.
-There, feel better yet?
K-Yeah. Sorry I couldn't finish the trip.
-Don't worry. What I saw is enough for a dozen lifetimes.
K-I wanted you to see how I see the world. From my perspective.
-Is beautiful.
We rest a bit before we go home as well. She turns into a kitty so I charge her and she doesn't stand out too much. When I get home as I close the door I hear all my family behind me.
He-Where is Karai?
I turn around and show them kitty Karai in my arm sleeping peacefully and deeply.
-She's only tired.
They sigh somewhat relieved and I take her to the bed. I wrap her in the blankets before I go to the kitchen and get something for myself.
-I see everyone is here.
Ka-You did appear on TV.
I remain silent and angry at being on TV. This is not what I wanted but I can't do it now.
N-We got worried and rushed over to check on the both of you.
-Well, as you already saw, I'm fine and she's just tired. It was not easy holding a plane by herself.
Ka-Dad. How where you both so high up that you could hold the plane down from falling?
I almost choke at his question.
-Flying and I'll say no more about it.
He looks at me with a knowing look and as they go away we wave farewell and after they leave I let myself fall on the couch tired. Hera kneels at my side with her hand on my hair as she strokes her thumb by my forehead. I smile and I take her hand and get it to my lips kissing the inside of her wrists.
-So soft, so gentle, so delicate.
I bit and I feel as she shakes and her pulse accelerates from zero to thousand in a second. Not long after we are on our bed making love getting all the tension and stress out of our system. We stop when we are exhausted and we tangle together going to sleep tired but happy.
