Walking into the apartment Donna felt like her heart was going to pound out of her chest. She had to leave the hospital and leave Sophie. In 18 months she had never once been away from Sophie for more than a few hours. How was she going to make it being away from her for a few days or so. It was going to kill her.

Sam walked up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders. She was staring out the window over at the hospital across the street.

'She's going to be alright. Trust me, trust the doctors. They know what they are doing. This is just a little set back.' He gently massaged her shoulders. 'Come here.. sit with me on the couch with me.' He pulled her over to the couch and they sat down next to each other.

They sat in silence for a few moments when Sams stomach growled. Donna looked up at him and smiled.

'Do you want me to fix you something to eat?' She asked him.

'Well I am kind of hungry. I didn't eat lunch today. But how about instead of you cooking, I take you out to dinner?' He put his hand up. 'and before you protest saying your not hungry or I don't have anything to wear. First you need to eat. You don't need to sit around here worrying yourself to death and.. I had my secretary go out and buy you and Sophie some 'New York' clothes I think you called it.'

'Sam..'

'No, you need to go out. I need to eat.. and you need to eat too.. so go.' He pushed her off the couch. 'Go take and shower and get dressed. I'll make reservations.'

'What should I wear. A dress, jeans..'

'Um do you feel up to Italian or something more like steak?'

'Steak? But what does that have to do with what I need to wear?' She put her hands in her hips.

'Well it could be fancy steak or casual steak.'

Donna couldn't help but laugh. 'Fancy steak or causal steak.. you're killing me!' She started to walk off. 'Did your secretary buy me a dress and heels?!'

Scrolling through his phone looking for the restaurants phone number.

'Uh yeah, I'm pretty sure she did. Just look in the closet. All your clothes should be in there.' He shouted hearing her turn on the water.

Donna let the hot water wash away all the stress she had been feeling over the past couple of days. She couldn't help but be some what relieved that she was out of that hospital and going out to eat a real meal. The hospital food was good, but it was no steak.

She stepped out of the shower and wrapped the towel around her. Walking out into the room she walked over to the closet. She opened the door and flipped on the light switch. Her breath caught when she saw that a whole new wardrobe had been bought for her and Sophie. Shoes as well. She walked into the closet and ran her fingers down the line of new clothes. She couldn't believe Sam had his secretary go out and buy them clothes. And the shoes. Donna loves shoes. Living on the island heels weren't a necessity. Usually sneakers and sandals was all Donna wore.

She picked out a dark navy blue form fitting dress. Cap sleeves, high collar with low split neck line that would stop right above her cleavage. Showing just enough to drive any man wild. It stopped at her knee and she paired it with a pair of tan heels. She dried her hair a bit more wrapping it up in a loose bun. A few hairs hanging, she looked in the mirror and finished her make up.

She had butterfly's in her stomach. This was the first time she had been out since she can't even remember. Much less had to dress up for dinner. She grabbed a light sweater and draped it over her arm as she walked down the hall.

Before she walked into the living room area Sam was already talking.

'I made us reservations at The River Cafe in Brooklyn down on the water. It serves steak and seafood. Does that sound good?' He finally looked up. He took in a breath. Donna stood there shy and trying to hide a smile. He started walking over to her. 'Oh wow, you look gorgeous.' Donna started to blush. 'The dress is stunning. I'll make sure to thank my secretary.'

Donna giggled. 'Oh this old thing.' She spun around.

Sam looked at his watch, not really wanting leave, but reservations were made. All he wanted to do was head right back into that bedroom and make sweet love to her. But he can't do that. Not now. He wasn't going to take advantage of her. If anything remotely was going to happen with them, Donna would have to make the first move. He already told her how he feels. Now it's up to her.
