"Oo, look what I found," Octavia said as she turned to me, Monty and Jasper. She was about to put the berries into her mouth.

"Stop!" Both Monty and I called out simultaneously. Octavia froze, mouth open and berries still in hand.

"Those are poisonous, but supposedly taste delicious," I explained.

Octavia launched the berries far away, "how would you know if they're good if they're poison?"

I just shrugged my shoulders as a reply. I knew a lot about Earth without ever having been here before. Since my mom taught Earth skills, I heard about the ground constantly. She was always mesmerized by it, the nature of it more specifically. I could name any tree, bush, berry, animal and so much more. I wished more than anything that my mom would be able to experience it, but for now I will for her.

I snapped out of my thoughts of my mom as I heard Monty and Jasper explaining to Finn why they got sent to the Skybox.

"What about you?" I heard Finn say as he turned to look at Octavia.

"Being born," she mumbled out, speeding up to catch Clarke.

"Damn," Jasper said, Monty slapped his arm.

"You, Kota?" Finn questioned while watching Octavia run off.

"Helping her," I simply put it.

"Are you two like dating?" Jasper asked. I turned to look at him, my eyebrow raised. I saw that he wasn't joking and giggled a little.

"No," I shook my head.

"Sweet," Jasper let out. I saw Clarke and Octavia crouching up ahead of us. I motioned my finger up to my mouth, insinuating for the rest to shut up.

As soon as we were all gathered together, we watch the deer in amazement. Finn began to step forward, snapping a stick in the process.

The deer's head turned quickly towards us, making us all jump back with a gasp. It displayed it's deformity which freaked us all out.

"What the fuck was that?" I whispered.

"It's probably because of radiation," Clarke stated. All of us stood up in shock of what we just saw, but we had to continue to Mount Weather.

A couple of miles and pointless conversations later, Clarke revealed the real reason why we were sent down to Earth.

"The Ark is dying, it only has 3 months of life support left. Maybe four now that we're gone," she explained. I began to panic internally at the thought of my parents still being up there and that I couldn't do much about it. I was spaced out of the conversation between Finn in Clarke until Finn expressed how Wells turned in Clarke's father. Maybe I could trust her more than I thought. She wasn't actually friendly with Wells.

My father and Clarke's father worked closely together since her dad was an engineer and mine was an architect. They were constantly conversing about the station. I never really knew him, but what I've heard from my dad was that he was a genuine man who cared deeply about his family and others.

We climbed a small hill of big rocks to reveal a pristine river behind them. I was in awe, the natural body of water was something I have never seen so close before. I've only seen this in my mom's old National Geographic magazines that she managed to preserve.

Next thing I know, Octavia is stripping out of her clothes and jumping in. Clarke let out some unapproved mumbling, but as I turned to look at her I could tell she was thinking about following my best friend in. I wasted no time in going after her as her eyes peered above the water.

"We can't swim," Jasper called out. Octavia stood up proving that they didn't need to know how.

"That sucks for you," I giggled out as I finished taking my undesired clothes off. I ran and dove off a ledge into a spot in the water that seemed darker than the rest. I knew this meant it was deeper and safe to go head first in. Luckily, my mom was obsessed with everything Earth related and taught me how to swim when I was little. But the ice bath tub was nothing compared to this.

As I emerged from the dark blue coloring, I've never felt so alive.

"Ok you gotta teach us how to do that," Finn stated while all of their jaws hung down. I was smiling back at them, but my face was quickly replaced with fear.

"Get out of the water Octavia! Kota get out!" Jasper was screaming. I turned around while treading the glistening liquid to see what got them so concerned. Something was hurdling towards both of us but before I could think, it had whipped Octavia down under.

"Octavia!" I screamed, wondering what the hell just happened. My eyes frantically followed the wake being left behind from the sea creature. Her head popped out of the water momentarily, but I heard her scream which meant she wasn't dead.

I began splashing the water as I swam to somewhere I could stand, desperately trying to do anything to distract the thing so it would let her go.

"Help me distract it!" I yelled to the others. I was not about to get reamed by her brother already, I also wasn't going to loose her when we just got here. Seconds later, the four others dropped in a large boulder a few feet from me. It was enough for the monster to let go of Octavia and search for something else.

I swam out about two yards to grab a hold of my friend and bring her back to shore before we were both this thing's dinner. The rest of the group rushed over to us, Clarke ripping fabric off of Jasper's t-shirt to wrap around Octavia's bloodied leg.

Octavia and I hugged each other and I could hear everyone's heavy breathing slow down around us.

"Thank you," Octavia said as she pulled back. I stood up from where we were.

"You're a bitch," I said laughing, causing a snort to come out of Jasper and a wide smile from everyone else.
