My body collapsed onto concrete as I wheezed to catch my breath. There was no more green glow, but the impact from the blast made me lose my breath. Bellamy was on top of me because of the way he grabbed my body during the shock.
He rolled off of me quickly to make sure he wasn't hurting me and cupped my face with his hands, "are you okay? Are you hurt?"
As I was able to catch my breath, I spoke to him, "I'm okay, I'm okay."
Bellamy was not well, his face was filled with pure distraught. He searched the floor as we both got up to our feet. I looked elsewhere, taking in my surroundings. I was just surprised to recognize where we were since apparently there was a bunch of different planets we could have gone to.
"We need to go back for Octavia. We need to find that damn stone," Bellamy panicked while he continued to search.
"Bellamy... look where we are," I said in total amazement. This got him to stop what he was doing and actually survey the spot we were in.
"The bunker?" He whispered out a question.
I basically laughed when he said those words and then I took off. My feet literally had a mind of their own, wanting me to see what it was like outside. If we were in the bunker, we were on Earth and if we were on Earth and not dead yet, it's survivable again.
"Kota, wait," Bellamy tried to get me to slow my roll for him to catch up, but I didn't stop until I was outside. The sight made my jaw drop, it was absolutely beautiful. I could sense Bellamy come up from beside me and take in the same sight. This was my third time coming back to Earth, but my reaction was always the same.
Polis has been replaced with moist soil and tall trees. The trunks were covered in colorful, green moss and the leaves were huge and healthy. The ground held bushes and vines, like before. The smell lifted my heart in an unexplainable way. Everything was fresh and, more importantly, alive. I felt tears of comfort and content drip from my wide eyes.
"Earth is back," Bellamy sounded more at ease now than a few seconds earlier. I turned to look at him and gave him a soft smile.
"I knew we'd be back here one day, we were always meant to be here," my voice was barely above a whisper. Bellamy reached his arm out to wrap around my back, he pulled me in sideways for a hug while we stared at the enchanting picture before us.
"We need to tell the others that we can come back here. First we get Octavia, then everyone else at Sanctum," Bellamy began to ramble.
"Bellamy... how?" I asked genuinely.
"The stone, we just need to find where it is," he urged.
"Then what? There are a million possible codes to put into that thing, we don't know what will work. We don't even know where it could be," I didn't want to be such a downer, but these were all valid thoughts.
"We'll start with finding it," Bellamy concluded. He ignored most of my doubts because he knew they were factual.
"I think we start with getting food and water," I objected. We needed it badly after what just happened, the hits we took and the energy we used drained us.
Bellamy was hesitant with agreeing, but eventually he did. We walked through the trees until we reached a body of water. The trek was absolutely mind blowing, my heart was filled with overwhelming delight and gratitude. I knew Bellamy was amazed by the sight too, but it barely showed on his face. His concern for his sister and our friends took over his thoughts. It did to mine too, but the fact that we were on Earth kind of overrode that for me in the moment.
The lake we came up on was pristine, the water was so blue and clean. Everything here looked completely untouched and like it was supposed to look. I just stared at the body of water in awe, taking in the smell. Earth smelt different than Sanctum, it was hard to explain the difference but Earth just smelt cleaner. I guess that may be because there's no Red Sun toxin floating around everywhere.
