I woke up to alarms blaring and an announcement calling for all guards to get to lock up.
Nobody was in med bay, so I pulled the IV out of my arm myself. Bear and Bellamy were no where around me, but I wasn't worried about that right now. I got up and ran towards lock up. The closer I got the more I heard.
There was a fight happening. As soon as I rounded the corner to the cell block, I saw the grounders fighting the guards. It was the same grounders that came in sick a bit ago, Lincoln was fighting two people at once.
I backed away slowly not wanting to become a part of the fighting. Then I saw that Bellamy was in the middle of it. He spoke something into his walkie and ran off. He never noticed I was there, so he didn't see that I took off after him.
When I got outside, there was a rover hurdling toward the front gates. I was too distracted to see who was driving it because Bellamy was running right in front of the vehicle. I was sprinting now, Bellamy was much further ahead of me.
"Stop! Get out of the way!" I yelled to Bellamy through my panting. He was now standing with a pistol raised to the rover. I don't think he heard me yelling since he didn't move or look at me, but the rover hit the brakes and slid to a stop.
I was no longer running, I stood and watched how this was playing out. Bellamy went to the driver door and I was surprised to see Kane being pulled out. Kane locked eyes with me while he was being put in cuffs. His eyes told me not to make a scene of this, to stay quiet.
My eyes traveled to the outside of the gates, there were grounders surrounding our camp once again. Maybe I should have listened to Miller when he gave me updates because I had no idea what was going on.
Next thing I saw allowed for me to put the pieces together. The guards were helping a restrained Pike out of the back of the rover.
This is what happened with Finn after the massacre he did. The grounders wanted blood for what Pike did to their army, Kane was trying to give him to them.
When I turned back to look at Kane, he was still looking at me. Bellamy followed his gaze until his eyes locked on my figure. I know my face was full of rage.
I signed my hands to Bellamy, 'you just got Kane killed.'
Bellamy stopped his steps at what I signed to him, hesitating before he continued to push Kane forward. I marched away knowing I had to find either Lincoln or Miller. They were the only two I knew I could trust right now. I needed to get involved even if it meant I had to commit treason. Pike was leading us all into some deep shit.
Unfortunately for me, I ran into someone who I didn't even know was here. Jaha was looking at me as I entered a hallway.
"Dakota, I have not seen you since my return," Jaha said to me as he approached.
"Let's keep it that way," I pushed past him without slowing my pace. That was something I had absolutely no time to deal with right now.
Before I went to look for Miller, I went to my room. When I opened the door I was glad to see Bear in there. I went over to the nightstand where I kept my knives and belt. Once I saw them, I attached them around my waist and grabbed a jacket to throw on so they weren't visible.
When I finished, I turned back to Bear who was still laying on the bed. He didn't look right, Bear wasn't as energetic as he typically was.
"What's wrong?" I whispered to him as I crouched beside his tired body. I reached out to pet him and noticed clumps of hair shedding with every stroke. I grabbed his snout to wedge his mouth open and saw that his tongue was practically white. He was malnourished, it made me wonder how long I slept for. I was boiling on the inside about Bear's condition, but I knew I had to have control over my feelings right now.
I grabbed a small mirror I had in the room to see what I looked like. My neck almost looked worse than before, the bruises deepened in color. My eye was still bright red as well.
"Come on Bear," I said lightly to my dog. I had to go find him food and water now, no matter how much anger I felt.
Bear followed me all the way into the dining hall. I went up the man who was handing out food.
"Two please," I ordered.
The man looked at me with a little bit of confusion, "we have to ration now. Remember? The grounders cut off our supply. People only get one ration in the morning and one at night."
"Yeah one for each of us," I pointed to Bear who was sitting politely next to me.
"I'm not authorized to give animals our rations," he stated back to me while handing me only one tray. I wanted to raise hell right then and there, but I knew I had to not cause trouble right now with Kane being arrested.
I snatched the tray from the man and set it on the floor in front of him. I watched the man staring at me with a confused look as Bear devoured the food.
"A cup of water would be nice too," I told him. He filled one up and handed it to me. I took two sips and set the rest of it down on the floor next to the empty tray. Bear finished its contents in a matter of seconds.
"Thanks," I said and began my way out of the dining hall. I started towards Miller's room, I saw his boyfriend in the dining hall but not him.
I knocked on his door once I got to it and after a few seconds it opened slowly. When he saw that it was me, he swung the door wider. Bear and I walked in and Miller shut the door behind us. I saw Harper and ran up to her, she hugged me tight. Miller gave me a big hug after Harper released.
"We heard what happened to you," Miller said as we pulled apart.
"We're happy you're okay," Harper said with a faint smile which I returned.
We all sat down on the couch in silence. I knew they were thinking about how screwed we are because that's exactly what I was thinking. I watched Harper petting Bear's head when I had a question pop up in my mind.
"I saw Jaha came back, did Murphy come back with him?" I asked Miller and Harper.
"No, it was just him," Miller answered. I don't think he was expecting me to ask about Jaha or Murphy.
"Where did he go?" I further questioned.
"He said he went to the City of Light, whatever that means. He's been giving people these chips to swallow and says it takes away all their pain. Sounds crazy to me but some people believe him," Harper detailed.
"City of Light? Something doesn't seem right with that," I said in turn to Harper. She shrugged to me insinuating that she didn't know much about it.
I let the topic go for now and went back to thinking about what to do about Kane.
