The silence in the Ark was so loud, my footsteps echoed as I walked slowly down the metal hallway. I found it weird how I knew exactly where to go though. There was a door just a couple of feet ahead of me.
When I reached the door, I extended my hand gently to the door knob. I turned it carefully and pushed the door inwards, it opened with a squeak. I stepped in and immediately recognized what room I was in. It was a large office and workspace, my dad worked in here every single day. He'd often take me with him so I could learn about the things he was doing.
I weaved my way through tables and work benches so I could get to my dad's desk. Once I finally reached it, I stood frozen.
"Dad?" I called out to the figure that was leaning over multiple sheets of paper. He was working on architectural plans, like he always did.
My dad lifted his head at my voice, when he saw my face the biggest smile was placed on his lips. Oh how I missed seeing his smile, it instantly made me feel safe. It made me feel so loved, it was like it was actually him.
"Kotie, there you are," his soft voice spoke the nickname he called me when I was a little girl. "Look at you... you've grown up so much. You look even more like Tessa now."
I was so happy to hear his voice that I laughed, I didn't even want to cry. His gleaming smile only filled me with joy.
"You're actually here?" I whispered to him as he stood from his seat.
"You've got to get going or you'll be late," my dad told me. This confused me, but I was more focused on the fact that he was standing right there, right in front of me.
"Late for what?" I asked.
He reached his hand out for me to hold onto. I took it with zero hesitation. "Come, I'll show you," he answered. My father led me out of the room and down a different hallway until we reached large double doors. "Are you ready?"
I looked up to him with furrowed eyebrows, "ready for what?"
He gazed down at my face with the same smile he had before, "for your fight."
"What?" I was not expecting him to say that. He released my hand to push the doors open. I was met with the sight of the fighting pits and horrified of what I saw ahead. Bellamy was in the middle of the arena. He was on his knees, his hands were tied behind his back and his mouth was gagged. Octavia stood next to him with a gun raised to his head. Both of them stared at me in the doorway.
I felt like I couldn't breathe. Bellamy's eyes were begging me to get him out of this. Octavia's face was completely covered in red paint, I couldn't even see her real skin color. Her head cocked to the side at the sight of me.
"Good, the other traitor made it," her voice grumbled.
I stepped into the arena and began my way towards the siblings, but Octavia held her hand up. I stopped approaching at her signal.
Octavia didn't say another word, she just looked back to her brother who never took his teary eyes off of me. My entire body jumped as she fired the gun. The bullet embedded itself into Bellamy's skull, blood sprayed from the exit hole in his head as he collapsed onto the ground.
"No! No! Octavia! What did you do?!" My screams were filled with agony. She killed him the same exact way Pike killed Lincoln, it was horrifying. My entire body was shuttering as she dropped the gun down to the floor and a river of tears took over my eyes.
She pulled out a sword and started to walk towards me. I turned around quickly and realized the doors I entered through were shut, my dad was no longer there. I sprinted over to them through my panicking. My hands frantically banged on the hard metal as I screamed for my dad to open them.
"He's not coming back," I heard Octavia's taunting voice get closer. I turned back around to see her still walking to me. "Your fate was your decision. You did this."
She started to run now, my shaky hands patted down my own body for a weapon. There was one throw knife in my belt. I grabbed a hold of it and launched it quickly. The knife dug itself into Octavia's forehead, but it didn't knock her down. She stopped her running, yet stayed on her feet. Blood rushed down her already red face. I dropped down to my knees and stared at the floor. I was in complete shock of what I had just done. Of what she had done to Bellamy.
"Kota! Wake up!" A man's voice grew louder in my ears. I shot my body up from its position on the floor. I could hear my own screaming but for some reason it sounded distant.
I was scrambling to get my body to back up, I didn't even notice Bellamy was right in front of me. My sobbing was loud, they sounded painful and scary.
Next thing I knew, I was being held tightly in someone's arms and smushed against a large figure. I was thrashing to get away, but I felt weak and the hold on me was not budging.
I finally realized it was Bellamy when I heard his gentle tone in my ear, "it was a dream. You're okay. It was a dream, I'm right here with you. Just breathe, Kota."
I stopped fighting to get away once I heard him clearly. My crying got quieter, but still continued. I haven't had a nightmare this bad for almost a year, I actually thought I wouldn't have to experience another one again.
On the Ring, Bellamy figured out the best way to calm me down was to trap me in an insane bear hug. It helped me snap out of a dream state and made me realize that whatever was happening wasn't real.
He knew I was fully conscious now, but still wouldn't let go of me. I didn't really want him to either after what I saw in my nightmare. He was alive, he was just fine.
"I've got you," Bellamy assured me with a whisper. I felt him place his large hand on the back of my head to comfort me as I attempted to make my breathing normal again.
I heard the tent open and someone step in. "What happened?" A familiar voice inquired with frenzy.
I could see Bellamy turn his head to the side to look at who came in. "Octavia, get the hell out!" He growled at his sister.
I heard nothing else from her, after a few seconds my ears picked up the sound of her leaving the tent. I've calmed down more by now for Bellamy to feel comfortable enough to release me from his tight hold. He kept his hands on me like he was afraid I was going to freak out once more, but he wanted to look at my face.
"I thought they were done. I thought- I thought I wouldn't get more like that," my voice was raspy from the screams I belted.
Bellamy moved one hand off of my shoulder and brought it up to my dripping cheek. He wiped my tears off with his thumb as he kept his eyes locked on mine.
"It's over now. It wasn't real. You're safe with me," his tone changed from when he spoke to Octavia. Now it was gentle, comforting.
I wrapped my arms around his muscular body and laid my head down into his chest. His warmth was all I wanted to feel right in this moment. It seemed to be the only thing that would actually relax me. Bellamy wrapped his arms back around me, not letting go until I wanted to.
