"Hold up," Kaylee told us as we got to the edge of the forcefield. "There are things and people in these woods that want us dead. You fall behind, you will be."

Her words actually scared me a bit because she was probably right. Kaylee then nodded to a guard who pulled out a flare gun and shot it up to the sky. I watched as the flare launched up and hit the shield, the sound of electricity tickled my skin.

"Huh, it's a dome," Raven said as we watched the shield light up blue and start to dissipate. Once it was powered down, the guards let us know that it was safe to pass through.

After we traveled through the woods for a bit, I picked up my pace to walk alongside Octavia. She looked over to me, knowing what I was going to ask about.

"Why do you care so much about a traitor?" She grumbled.

"Because he's not a traitor anymore," I spat back to her. I could hear her scoff in return, but I continued on. "What happened to Kane?"

"He was awake, yelled at me and ruined himself with his rage," Octavia summarized.

Now I was the one who scoffed, "what happened to us being friends?"

I never took my eyes off of her, so her slight eye roll didn't go unnoticed by me. "A lot has happened."

"Duh," I said in a sassy tone. "I forgave you, Octavia."

"No you didn't, you just said you did," Octavia fired as she looked back over to me.

"That's not true," I furrowed my eyebrows. I did forgive Octavia, but it's not like our relationship would automatically go back to what it was before.

"I know you, Kota. If you really forgave me, you wouldn't still look at me like you do now," Octavia exposed.

"What did you expect?" I felt heat rise up in my chest as my voice got louder.

"You went right back into loving Bellamy after everything with Pike. After he betrayed both of us," her words pierced into me. I knew she was trying to instigate something because that was an issue we worked out in the past, but for some reason it flipped a switch in me.

"Pike didn't put me in an arena to kill him!" My tone was close to a yell.

"Kota," Bellamy's voice rose from behind me. I knew he heard what we were talking about, everyone probably did. I was just upset with myself for letting her words get to me like this. I tore my gaze off of Octavia and slowed my pace to fall back beside Bellamy. He didn't want this to escalate into something else and neither did I.

Bellamy went to say something to me, but something else got all of our attention. There was a herd of voices in the distance chanting 'death to Primes' repeatedly. The guards and Kaylee didn't hide how much this startled them.

I stared down Kaylee and the guards, their reactions were filled with terror. "We're too late," one of the guards said to Kaylee as he grabbed onto her arm. She was visibly stressed out of her mind.

"Like hell we are," she breathed out as she started to thrash against the hold on her. "Let me go!"

"Victor, Fay and Daniel Prime are lost. You're the priority," the guard continued on, then transferred on to the other guards. "Abort the mission, now!"

"Woah, woah, what are you talking about?" Bellamy stepped in front of the guard to stop him from retreating. "Our people are there."

I stepped towards Bellamy to get his attention. These people were clearly terrified, there was no way we could convince them to help us right now. "We can do this ourselves," I stated to him and turned back to the guard. "We'll be back later with our family."
