I burst through the tent once I got word that video calls to the Ark were now working. Clarke was sitting in front of the monitor, finishing up a conversation with Jaha. He looked at me with wide eyes, but I wasn't sure why.
"Let me talk to my parents," I told Clarke, who was hogging the radio all morning. I shouldn't be mean because they were discussing life saving things, but I just really wanted to see my parents.
Clarke took her headset off to hand them to me and I sat in the stool beside her.
"Jaha go away, send my parents in," I told him, wondering why he was still sitting there. Then it got worse once he opened his mouth.
"I can't do that unfortunately," he attempted to keep his voice professional, but I could tell he was nervous to tell me this.
My hands immediately balled into fists at his statement, "why the fuck not?"
The pixels of his body on the screen winced at my language before giving me an explanation. I saw Clarke rush out of the tent from the corner of my eye, but I ignored it. There was only one thing I wanted right now.
"Dakota, your parents are under investigation. The laws of the Ark state that they can not have communications with people involved in it," he broke the news.
I let out an exaggerated laugh of disbelief, "what is wrong with you? Are you being serious?"
"Yes I am," he kept from showing any emotion on his face. I was so mad at this man that I could actually feel my chest heat up.
"What did they do? How was I involved?" I drilled, there were so many questions I had.
"It's a long list Dakota, every law they broke benefited you in some way," Jaha answered truthfully.
This only confused me more though, my parents were stand up people. My tone was softer now, "w-what do you mean?"
"They stole, they had unauthorized possession of deadly weapons, committed fraud, depleted resources and more. Both your mother and father said they did it to prepare you for Earth," Jaha detailed. I never got a chance to ask the question I wondered the most. Why did any of that matter when they are coming down to Earth soon?
I couldn't stand this man speaking poorly of my parents, accusing them of ridiculous crimes. I heard the tent flap open and someone step in but I paid no attention to them. I belted a scream towards the monitor as I saw Jaha stand up. Simultaneously, I grabbed a knife from my pant pocket and drove it through the screen, making it go dark immediately.
Before I could do more damage to the remainder of the technology in the tent, I was lifted up and thrown over someone's shoulder. I knew it was Bellamy, but my mind didn't care. I kept punching his back as he carried me away from the tent and away from the other people at camp.
"Let me down!" I begged through my crying. A few seconds later he did just that. He set me down somewhere along the fence line and held a grip on my shoulders to prevent me from running off right away.
I stared at him with tears climbing down my cheeks. His face was full of concern.
"They won't let me see them," I told him what my rage was about while I lifted my sleeve up to wipe my wet face.
"I know," he admitted with a tone full of sorrow. That's why Clarke left, she went to get him when she saw things escalate. I shoved his hands off of me wanting to leave, I just needed to have a second to myself. I pushed past him to walk beside the fence to the front gate.
"Kota you're not going out there," Bellamy said, he was right on my heels.
"Yes I am," I replied not even looking back to him.
"I'm not letting you get hurt by going outside camp," Bellamy was stern. I just continued to walk, I was almost there. That was until his hand landed on my shoulder and spun my body around to face him.
I attempted to shove him away from me, but failed as he caught both my wrists in his hands and gently pressed my back into the fence. His body was against mine, preventing me from moving anywhere. Tears started to find their way back to my eyes as he watched them closely.
"You'll see them again, but it'll be on Earth. Not a screen," he told me with a voice full of promise. I gave up fighting against him at this point. My head dropped, my forehead connecting to his chest as silent tears rolled. He released my hands to move his. He placed one to hug my back and the other comforted the back of my head as I laid against his large figure.
It calmed me down pretty fast, probably faster than that walk I was going to go on outside of the gates. After a few moments, I wiped my eyes once again with my hand before lifting my head back up.
"I'm sorry," I apologized. I know I freaked out at him for nothing related to him. He just shook his head in return, signaling I shouldn't be apologizing. His one hand left from it's place behind my head, but his other stayed around my back.
"I don't want to leave you right now, but Clarke really needs to talk to me about a plan to get supplies. You should go look for Octavia, she's probably in the drop ship," his voice was the most sincere I've ever heard it be.
"Okay, yeah," I said back to him with a small nod.
"I'll come find you after," he assured. Bellamy took a step back so I could move past him. I felt his eyes on my back as I made my way to the drop ship. I remembered our kiss as I was walking, thinking about how I should probably tell Octavia about it. Once I got to the entrance of the drop ship, I looked back to where Bellamy was standing. He was still watching me. I turned to the ship and moved the fabric to get inside.
I immediately spotted Octavia, she was sitting in one of the seats on the first level with her eyes closed.
"They still won't let you see him?" I asked, making her eyes open. She gave me a small smile and motioned for me to sit next to her.
"Nope," she sighed. Octavia reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out my knife that killed the monitor. "You lost this."
I took it back from her hands, happy she got it for me. "You saw what I did?"
She let out a half laugh, "I saw your attempted murder of Jaha through a screen." I shook my head at the thought that a whole lot of people also saw my fit of rage.
"He survived me and Bellamy," I joked, but my voice was tired.
"You've got to teach me how to throw those, I couldn't even get it to stick once," she told me.
"I will," I said, excited that I'd be able to pass some skills on to someone else. It was my turn to give something to her out of my jacket pocket. I held out a balled up piece of paper towards her, she looked really confused as she took it from me.
Once she evened it out to get a look I told her, "that grounder drew that of you, he's actually very talented."
She smiled while looking at her portrait.
"I ripped it out of his notebook before Bellamy saw, I didn't want him to freak out about it. I know he tried to kill me and all, but for some reason I trust him with you," I said.
Octavia brought her gaze to me and gave me a thankful smile.
"Except I don't know how he's going to react once you tell him about your's and Jasper's kiss," I admitted that I knew of this. She lightly smacked my arm as she laughed at my statement.
"Of course Jasper told you," she sighed in defeat. I shrugged my shoulders in response. "So what's happening with you and Bell?" Of course she knew about this, I thought to myself.
"I don't know..." I trailed off not really wanting to tell her that we kissed.
"He's not my favorite right now, but I'll always want the best for him. He looks at you like he loves you. I know you would be good for him," Octavia's sweet voice told me. I gave her a soft smile and stood up from the seat I was in. Did she just tell me that Bellamy loves me?
"I'm going to try and get some rest," I said. She nodded and I walked off to my hut outside.
