Bellamy had left with the rest of the group to help take a Mount Weather tower out so our radios wouldn't be jammed from other Ark stations. I would have gone, but Clarke asked me to stay here and watch the camp. She didn't trust some other people and wanted to make sure nothing sneaky was going on while they were out. Bellamy backed her up on it too of course, he preferred if I stayed safe behind the fence.

I was upset at first, but then ended up being grateful to stay behind. It gave me time to train Bear some more and also time to shape two new knives to replace the others I had lost.

As soon as I finished with my last knife, I spotted Murphy sitting at a table not to far away. I decided to make my way over to him, wanting to ask him something. When I sat down across from him, he set his cup down and leaned back in his seat while crossing his arm. His lips curled into a grin.

"Is this where you launch a knife into my skull," he spoke.

"No, Murphy," I almost laughed at him. He still made me mad, but I had forgiven most of his actions. He was genuinely my friend at one point and he did help save Bellamy's life on the cliff. If Bellamy could start to trust him again, so could I.

"Then what do you want?" He knew I had something to say.

"I want us to fight," I made my request simple, but he still seemed confused.

"Fight? I'd kick your ass hand to hand," he pointed out and he was telling the truth.

"I know, I need to learn how to fight and no one else here would punch me without feeling bad about it," I explained.

"Sure, we'll spar," he agreed. As I started to stand up, he stopped me. "But now I have something I need to tell you."

This made me get back into my chair, his grin was now wiped off his face. I stayed quiet to let him speak. He uncrossed his arms and sat up a bit.

"Mason is here. He came down with the Ark," he said. My eyes went wide and I felt like I needed to throw up at what he had told me. I hadn't paid much attention to the other people who came down because I was so wrapped up in other things. I also fought myself to push Mason out of mind for the past three years.

"You just went pale," Murphy noted. He looked like he was actually worried about me.

"I'm fine," I spat back. I couldn't shake the fear that rose in me until I could feel Bear put his head in my lap.

Nobody knew what happened between Mason and I, the only person I've ever told was Murphy. I didn't even have the courage to tell Octavia ever. The only reason I told Murphy is because we had an interesting friendship. Our trust between us was built on learning each other's trauma.

"He's just been doing some work around camp, repairing and shit. I don't think he knows you're here," Murphy tried to calm my internal panicking.

"Let's go," was all I said in return. I didn't want to talk about him anymore.

As we went to a quieter part of camp, I told Bear his commands: sit, stay, and safe.

"Is your dog going to attack me when I punch you?" Murphy asked.

I shrugged my shoulders even though I knew he wouldn't. Bear was extremely loyal, if I told him the word 'safe' he would listen to me and not engage.

I caught Murphy by surprise because he wasn't expecting me to punch him already. He yelped when my fist connected with his face.

"Nice swing," he grunted before returning one to me. It was forceful, knocking me down to my knees. I kicked his shin to get him down to the same level as me, but he quickly retaliated and lunged to tackle me on my back. The back of my head had hit the ground. He held my arms down into the dirt and I didn't have the strength to get them free.

"You already died," he said with a little too much satisfaction. I furrowed my eyebrows and launched my knee up into his tail bone, causing him to roll off of me. Both of us stood back up to our feet, but he was faster. He sent another fist into my face, drawing a lot of blood. Surprisingly, I didn't fall down at this one.

"What are you doing!" A yell stopped us from continuing. I turned to see that it was Jackson, the poor guy looked extremely concerned. He had no idea what we were doing.

"It's friendly," I told him like what we were doing was fun.

"Doesn't look like it, get to med bay. Both of you need stitches," I looked over to Murphy, the bridge of his nose had blood pouring out of it.

Murphy pointed to the side of his cheek once he looked back to me, "you got a little something." I rolled my eyes and told Bear to come as I followed Jackson into the Ark. I could hear Murphy's footsteps behind me so I knew he was coming too.

When we entered med bay, I was surprised to see my mom in there helping other patients. She saw me right as we walked in and came up to examine my face.

"What happened to you two?" She asked while leading me over to a cot so I could sit.

"Murphy was just helping me learn to fight," I assured her that the situation was okay.

"Nasty cut," she told me.

I reached up to my cheek, "I know."

She flicked her head to Murphy who was on the cot beside me, "I meant him." This made me smile, my mom was always on my side no matter what.

"I still won," Murphy patted himself on the back.

"Barely," I said sarcastically. "What are you doing in here mom?"

"Oh, I've been learning how to be a medic. Jackson has been a great teacher. I feel like it's something I could do to really help people here," her eyes glistened when telling me this. When my mom had a passion for something, she put her entire heart into it. I knew she would be a fantastic medic soon.

Jackson brought a tray over with supplies to stitch our faces, "now you get to practice sutures."

My mom kept apologizing to me as she sewed my skin back together. I kept trying not to let tears fall, but it was hard since the gash was so close to my eyes and I had no numbing of any sort. Jackson finished Murphy's stitches much faster than my mom did mine.

"Shit we're gonna have to explain that to Bellamy," Murphy said. He was now standing next to my mom and watched as she kept pulling the string through my face.

"He'll be fine," I told Murphy as my mom tied the end of the string.

"Try not to get this dirty. And don't fight anymore until the stitches can come out please," my mom said to the both of us.

"Fair," I accepted her advise. "I'm going to go get some food, do you want to come?"

"I need to finish up with a patient here, but I'll meet you when I'm done," my mom smiled at my invitation.

"I'm hungry," Murphy said as I got up to leave.

"You can come with me if you tell Bear you love him," I said with a serious face.

"What kind of deal is that?" Murphy laughed but I only glared.

He turned his attention to my friend, "I love you Bear."

"Okay let's go," I said with a smile.
