Octavia's face was above mine with tears in her eyes at the sight of me.
"You're okay now, you're okay," she kept reassuring me as she released the bounds around my body. I felt stiff, it was hard to believe we were actually okay after all of that.
"Kota!" I heard my favorite voice. His familiar face was now looking into my eyes and my tears began once again. "I've got you."
Bellamy sounded shaky. He picked me up from the table and told me, "we're going home." I looked over to see Octavia retrieving Bear, then turned back to Bellamy. His eyes were filled with tears with me curled up in his arms.
I could feel Bellamy placing his lips on my forehead as we left the room. I drifted in and out of consciousness as we started our way home until I eventually passed out.
—
Once again I was woken by the bright lights in med bay. I couldn't describe the way my body felt, it was just weak and throbbing.
I flinched when a hand lightly touched my forehead.
"It's me, it's okay," Bellamy's soft voice said.
I was able to relax at the sight of him, "you're okay." I sounded hoarse, I must've lost some of my voice from the screaming.
"We're okay," he replied. He wouldn't take his eyes off me. After I was able to get all my awareness back, I noticed that something was really wrong.
"I can't feel my leg Bellamy," I said as I realized that no matter how hard I tried to wiggle my toes, they wouldn't move.
"It's not permanent. I made Abby use the rest of the flower stuff you had," Bellamy assured me I'd be alright. "You must've put up a hell of a fight for them to do that to your face." His voice was sad, but he seemed proud of me at the same time.
I dreaded telling him about what happened to my face, but I couldn't lie to him. "It wasn't them," I basically whispered.
His face twisted into anger when I said this, "who did it?"
"It's taken care of," I sounded exhausted and really didn't want to explain the situation right now. He seemed to catch onto my thoughts and dropped the subject.
"I should have never left you. I should have protected you," Bellamy had tears dripping from his cheeks.
"You did protect me," I said back truthfully. I know what he did in that mountain to save us, but I could tell it hurt him. I realized my mom wasn't here and she spent most of her time in med bay to help people. "Where's my mom?"
Bellamy's face looked like he didn't want to tell me the answer, that's when I knew something had happened to her.
"Tell me Bellamy," I squeaked out when he said nothing.
"I'm so sorry... she's dead Kota," Bellamy choked out. My eyes flooded with salty water.
"You're lying," I sobbed out as I attempted to sit my upper body up. Bellamy moved to sit on the cot with me and pulled me into his chest.
I could hardly breathe at the news. I shook as cries escaped and my tears soaked Bellamy's shirt.
"Tell me you're lying," my voice sounded weak and desperate.
"I'm so sorry," Bellamy repeated. I could tell he was crying with me. My grief made it impossible for me to draw in air normally. I cried until there was nothing left for me to cry. It eventually made me dizzy to the point where I just wanted to fall back asleep. One of Bellamy's hands was on the back of my head, making me feel secure enough to go back to sleep.
When I woke back up again, the horrible feeling of loss never left me. I could now feel my leg again, it was pulsing with pain but it was bearable.
Bellamy came back through the med bay doors a few minutes after I woke up. My fluffy boy was right beside him, but booked it towards me as soon as he saw me. His tail was wagging so hard his entire body was wiggling. I reached out to scratch him as Bellamy approached.
"Someone wanted to see you," Bellamy tried to give me a small smile. "How are you feeling?"
"I can feel my leg now," I updated. He looked a little concerned.
"Does it hurt?" He asked.
"It's okay," I paused before talking again. "I need to know what happened."
Bellamy nodded like he was expecting me to say this.
"Let me help you up," Bellamy said as he put his hand on my back to lift me up.
"Where are we going?" I asked as I moved my feet to touch the floor. Bellamy moved beside me to wrap his arm around my waist to help me stand up.
"To see your mom," he answered. I put my arm around his back as we started walking. I was glad to get out of that room.
"Thank you," I told him, knowing he was taking me to her grave. Bellamy didn't say anything about it, but I knew that he was the one to make sure her body made it back here and not left behind.
Bellamy led me to right outside the gates, there were multiple fresh graves dug and covered. There was one where Nathan Miller and his father were placing flowers on and we were walking right towards them.
Once we made it, I saw the light blue flowers sitting nicely on top of my mother's burial site. I didn't cry at the sight, I didn't have anything left to cry. I felt comfort though in seeing that the flowers the Miller's chose were her favorite color.
When Nathan saw me approach, he immediately came to hug me. He looked grateful, not sad.
Bellamy never let go of his grip on me, I'd probably fall over if he did. When Nathan pulled away, I looked to his dad.
"I owe my life to your mom," he stated. My heart clenched at what he said. Of course my mom lost her life to save one. She deserved a peaceful death, but she got a heroic one. "Tessa came with us to the Mount Weather door to help as a field medic. When I went to go set the bomb off, I was shot in the arm while the others around me were killed. She ran out with a shield and bandaged me. She tried to drag me back to safety, but got hit during it. Her shield landed on top of me when she fell... Tessa told me to tell her beautiful girl how much she loves her."
Nathan's father was crying recalling my mother's fate. I think I've always known something like this was going to happen to her.
"You picked flowers that are her favorite color. Thank you," was all that I said back to him. He placed a loving hand on my shoulder before motioning to his son that it was time to give me some space.
When Nathan and his father walked off, I turned to look at Bellamy. He caught my stare as I told him, "tell me everything that happened with that mountain."
