I watched Octavia's face light up from the sun touching her. She was squinting as she felt the warmth on her skin. I reached my hand out to her, which she took, and hoisted her over to where she could stand. Once she was detached, she looked around her surroundings. It must have been a trip to see this place look so different. After she did a full turn around, she faced me and looked to my companion standing beside me. Octavia seemed confused as to how he was still alive since he didn't go to space or the bunker.
I decided that was something to explain later, for now I just watched her kneel down and Bear went up to her with his tail wagging. She pet him sweetly before standing up again.
"We have a lot to talk about," I told her. Octavia wasn't that same person she was six years ago, I noticed that when I first saw her. Her aura was different, but it didn't change the fact that we were family.
"We do, but not now," she agreed. Even her voice was different, it was darker and more hoarse.
"Bellamy isn't going to want to wait. He'll want to know what happened down there once he comes up," I gave her a heads up.
"Figured," her reply was short. "And you don't?"
I kept my gaze on her as I answered, "not now. From what I saw, you did what you had to. I told you I'd support your decisions before Praimfaya happened. Even though I wasn't down there with you, I knew you'd make the right choices for Wonkru."
Octavia's expression never faltered, but she nodded to me to show she took my words to heart. Next thing she did was reach for her belt and pulled out a tiny knife. Octavia lifted it for me to take.
"It's yours," she stated. I knew it was mine, I recognized it as soon as I saw it. That was the knife I gave her for the conclave.
I shook my head gently without retrieving it. "It's not mine anymore," I replied. Octavia retracted her offering as I gave her the slightest smile. I couldn't help the warm feeling I got knowing that she held a piece of me with her this whole time. At least she had that.
I turned away from her to help more people out of the opening. I helped Clarke out and Indra was next. Once I pulled Indra out, we attached our hands to each other's forearms. I held an extreme amount of appreciation for her, I knew she stuck by Octavia's side in there. Indra knew exactly what I was grateful for.
Bellamy came out next, I grabbed his hand to bring him over to where I stood. He looked at me like he wanted to talk, but said nothing. I don't think he wanted to talk to me with other people around.
'We can talk later,' I signed with my hands. It's been a while since we had to use sign language, I'm just glad that it never slipped from either of our memories. Bellamy nodded to me as he turned to take over my job of helping people out.
After a few more minutes, Miller's head popped up. Bellamy helped him out and pulled him into a hug. When they pulled apart I could see Bellamy look to his hip, I spotted the pistol he had there. Bellamy was concerned about it because we agreed to no weapons with Diyoza. I didn't really care about it though, I just went up to Miller to give him a hug which he returned.
"I'm glad your okay," I said softly to him.
"It's really good to see you Kota," he replied as we pulled apart. Miller walked off and down the pile of rubble while I turned back to Bellamy.
"Go talk to her. I'll be right here," I told him. I knew what he was thinking about. I watched as he went up to Octavia and talked to her briefly before making his way down the pile of concrete. A few moments later, Octavia followed him. I turned back towards the opening to continue helping.
