I woke up to the dim sunlight rising through the thin sheets that acted as curtains. When my eyes blinked opened, I saw Bellamy was already dressed for the day and he seemed like he was just about to wake me.
"Hi," my morning voice croaked.
"Hi, Kota," Bellamy said sweetly. I swung my legs off the bed as a large yawn escaped my mouth. I then stood up to grab my old clothes that I had washed the day before to put on. They smelt fine now, but I don't think the twinge of must would ever really wash out of these.
"I'm going to try and find Liam. Hopefully I can force him to teach me about some of their medicinal plants," I told Bellamy as I finished putting my clothes on and laced my boots.
"I had a feeling you would," Bellamy said with no surprise in his voice. "Enjoy it, I'll be around. I'll come get you if anything happens."
"Okay," I smiled to him, but my expression soon fell. Something was off with him and I had a feeling of what it was about. "Thinking about Octavia?"
He nodded his head without keeping eye contact with me, "yeah, I am."
"Do you regret leaving her out there?" I asked genuinely. If he needed to talk about it, I was going to listen to whatever he had to say.
"Remember that nightmare you had when we were marching into the gorge?" He gave me a question instead of answering mine.
I felt my chest tighten as the memories of that dark dream came back to me, it was one of the worst ones I've ever had. "I do."
Bellamy was silent for a short moment before continuing, "I've never seen you have that extreme of a reaction to any other of your nightmares. You never talked to me about it and I know why, it was about her... and what she did. That moment of me trying to get you to wake up replayed in my head when I shut the door on O. It's been playing in my head since it happened. No, I don't regret leaving her out there, not after she caused that."
This was the one of the few times where Bellamy didn't have the strength to look at me while he spoke. I didn't realize how much that nightmare affected him and I felt bad that I didn't. I moved my hand up to his cheek to get him to face me. I gave him a warm kiss instead of spilling words, I don't think he even wanted a vocal response from me.
When we pulled away, Bellamy spoke again, "you go. Learn cool shit. I'll be just fine here."
I nodded my head slightly and gave him a small smile before I turned to leave. As I got down to the main room down the stairs, the only person there was Murphy.
"Kota," he greeted with a flat smile once he saw me.
"Morning Murphy," I couldn't hide the awkwardness in my voice. I moved my eyes to his hand which held a clear glass with a brownish liquid sitting inside. "Boozin' already."
"Boozin' didn't stop," Murphy's head cocked to the side. "Parties don't have a bed time."
"I guess you're right," I stood there for moment, neither of us exchanged more words. Murphy and I had our problems that I'm not really sure if we ever completely solved. Both of us chose to kind of ignore it and move on instead of facing it, but I wanted to make sure that we were alright. "Do you still hate me?"
Murphy turned his glare away from his cup and placed it directly onto me. There was silence before he gave his simple answer, "I never really did."
That was all I needed to hear and all he was going to say about it. I gave him a small nod and left the building. The air was cool, but not enough to give me a shiver. I spotted Liam a few yards away, he seemed like he was waiting.
