I turned around when I heard Octavia's body thud to the ground as she rolled off the horse. I chased after her as she stumbled through the bushes. I heard her sobs as she went to get a view of the camp.
I wasn't following her to stop her, I just didn't want her to be alone. We halted to a stop when we could see Pike and Lincoln facing each other from afar. Lincoln dropped to his knees in the muddy ground. We couldn't hear anything. I just saw Lincoln raise his head towards our direction.
I could barely hear Octavia sobbing because the sound of the gun shot wouldn't stop ringing in my head. Pike was standing above Lincoln's lifeless body, lowering his gun. I grabbed Octavia's hand in mine and she took it. When I looked over to her, her face was full of fire. She decided right then and there that she was going to kill this man for what he did. She looked powerful and quite scary. All of Octavia's quirks and humor that I knew and loved drained from her being. I felt nauseous seeing this shift in her immediately after Lincoln's end.
We stood there for a while before I said, "we have to go. I'm so sorry." My voice was uneven and scratchy due to the tears running down my face. I hate that I had to tell her we needed to leave after what she had to witness. She just watched her person get killed and couldn't do anything about it.
I let go of her hand to turn around and leave, Octavia eventually followed behind me. I knew when we were approaching the cave that this was going to be horrible between Bellamy and Octavia. When we got to the entrance, I grabbed Octavia's arm as the others went in.
"Just tell him I'm okay," I whispered, hoping she would do this for me.
She knew what she was going to do down there, she also knew that I wasn't going to be down there to watch. She gave me the slightest nod before marching down.
I went far away, I couldn't deal with any of that right now. I still couldn't get the image me killing Mason out of my head and so much shit has happened since then. I really thought I could get us all out, I felt like I failed Octavia. I curled up on the wet ground outside somewhere, behind a log. I fell asleep almost instantly, I forgot how weak my body actually was after Mason attempted to murder me. My body just felt like it needed to shut down.
When I woke up it was daylight out. I got up to stand and noticed Bear laying near me. I knew Bellamy sent him out to find me. Bear stood up with me and we started our way back to the cave. I walked further than I intended to, so I had to lay low on my way back.
As I entered the cave I scanned the room and noticed missing heads.
"Where are they?" I questioned Miller.
"They went to get Monty at the drop ship," Miller answered.
"What if it's a trap?" I asked.
Miller hesitated before telling me, "that's why they brought Bellamy."
Octavia was going to trade him as a hostage for Monty if it was a trap.
"I have to go," I blurted out.
"No, no you can't," Miller stepped towards me. "We need you here, if it is a trap we need as many people as we can out of that camp. Both Bellamy and Octavia said not to let you go."
He was right even though I didn't want to admit it. My pacing started because now it was a waiting game. I had to distract myself from this.
"We need to find Clarke to talk to Lexa," I said. We had so much information, information that could help us end Pike's reign of Arkadia.
"Bellamy said Lexa is dead," Harper told me. I felt my mouth drop at the news, this was not good.
"What? So who's the commander?" I asked, shocked at what Harper had told me. Nobody answered because nobody knew.
