"It doesn't matter what we do, we always end up here. On the brink of war," Bellamy's voice was low. Bellamy, Kane, Bear and I were chained to a wall in a cave, sitting behind metal bars.

"Abby's at the island. She will find a cure," Marcus said back to him. I couldn't take my eyes off of Bellamy, he looked like he had lost hope.

"Hey," Kane spoke to him to get Bellamy's eyes off the floor and on his face. "We'll get through this."

After staring at Kane, Bellamy looked over to me. He needed me to say it to believe it.

"We will, Bellamy," I assured. He nodded to me with sad eyes. I wish I could comfort him physically, but the restraints on my wrists made it impossible. The thought of another war happening was tearing him apart. He's stayed strong for me when I needed it, it was my turn to be strong for him.

All of our heads turned at the sound of the gate opening. Roan and Echo entered along with some other Ice Nation soldiers.

"On your feet," Echo ordered. All of us complied.

"What're you doing?" Kane questioned the King. I could hear Bear growling, his teeth were showing. I was grateful they at least took the rope off of his mouth.

"Taking you home," Roan answered. "Your ship is shelter from Praimfaya. I intend to take it."

I wanted to scream my head off at Roan, which is why I said nothing and let Kane speak, "you don't have to do this. We can find a solution together."

"That time has passed," Roan stopped Kane from talking and demanded for us to be prepared to march.

"Octavia will get there first," Bellamy spat at them. Both Roan and Echo halted in their tracks. Something seemed really wrong with their reactions. "She'll warn them you're coming. You'll lose."

When neither Roan or Echo said anything, I could feel a ball form in my throat. Something had happened to her that we didn't know about. Roan turned to glare at Echo before she looked to us. I wish I wasn't chained up, I never wanted to kill anyone as bad as I did in this moment. She dropped Octavia's sword at Bellamy's feet, my eyes darted from the sword to Bellamy. Tears instantly drenched my cheeks when I saw his expression. It was something I've never seen across his face before, it was pure misery.

"She wouldn't be taken alive," Roan said with his rough voice as Bellamy lifted his head back up to them.

His demeanor changed completely, his shoulders slumped and he slowly shook his head.

"No. No," he said in disbelief. As much as my body wanted to completely collapse and break down, I forced myself to shove that temptation away. Octavia was like a sister to me, but she was Bellamy's blood sister who he took care of since she was born. She was the last family he had left alive, I had to hold myself together for him.

"I am sorry," Roan gave his condolences. Bellamy turned his back to all of us as he gripped the metal bars to hold his trembling body up.

"It was a good death," Echo's voice was sincere, but to me it sounded evil. I yanked my wrists, trying to get them free of the metal around them. I could feel the endless tears flowing from my eyes with each tug I did to pull the chains off of me.

It shredded my heart to see Bellamy quivering with grief and I couldn't hold him. I pleaded Roan with my eyes to let me go, I didn't want to escape or kill anyone. His eyes told me he knew I wouldn't, but they also told me he couldn't risk it. I just wanted to be next to Bellamy. I felt my skin against the metal become raw as Roan made no attempt to set me free.

I turned back to Bellamy and went up to him as far as the restraints would let me. I dropped to my knees the same time Bellamy did, his breathing was shaky and labored like how mine would get when something tragic happened.
