"By next week, we'll have the peer building event."

The whole class seemed to lost their voices after what Professor Lerner announced.

"Peer Building Event?!" One dude in class asked, "I thought college students are not joining that lame event this year?"

"Hey! Watch it Laker. Students who will join this event will have additional grades."

"Oh please, who needs 'em?"

"Certainly not you Laker."

Laker rolls his eyes, "Whatever."

"Okay, let's go back to the topic. The student who will be leading this event will be.. May Archer."

"ME?!" I exclaimed in surprise.

"Yeah. HER?!" Talia repeats.

"Yeah, her. I based this decision to the quiz I gave last week. She got an A while you got—"

"Fine."

"Good. Guess we're settled then."

I look to the side accidentally and saw him looking at me. I immediately look away as my heart races like a jet. Those blue eyes are like water sparkling from the sunlight.
But.. why is he looking AT ME?

"So, to continue. I have the list of names here. Those who I will be calling will participate on the said event," he clears his throat, "Okay, here we go. Acer, Karen, Louie, Anna, Tori, Miranda, Talia—"

"Great. I'm gonna follow orders from her."

"Or you want me to put you out of the list and take Laker instead? He'll have the grades instead of you."

"No, I'm okay. Keep me on that list."

"Okay. Now, lastly, Luke."

Luke?! As in Luke Hemmings?! I'm going to the peer building event with him?! No way!
Thank you good lord, I am so excited!

"Can those people who are going to be involved with the upcoming event stand up?"

I gulp as we stand on our feets. Luke's beside me, just a little more step sidewards and I can already reach and touch him.

"Alright. Let's give all of the representatives of our class a round of applause."

They clap their hands and as I look around, I saw how unhappy Talia was.

"May, come to my office later to grab the copy of the scoop for the event."

I nod with a jumpy heart. How will I do this? I'm pretty stoked to do this event with Luke on my watch but pretty nervous to have Talia on the loose.

"Sit down."

"Hey, mind telling us the news you have for us professor?" Talia said.

"Oh, yeah. I almost forgot," he clears his throat, "May's not the only one who will be leading you with the peer building this coming week."

I'm not the only one? What does he mean?
My eyebrows creased in wonder.

"What?" Talia says, "So you mean there's another duckling who's gonna lead us swans on this event?"

"Oh Talia, I bet you're gonna take those words back."

"Nah. Don't think so."

Professor Lerner raised a brow with a smirk, "Whatever you say kiddo. The other person who will be leading along with May is a new student. A transferee from Canada. He's the son—"

"Goodie! He's a boy!"

"That's what I said Talia, now mind if I continue?"

"No, not at all. Go ahead Mr. Lerner."
