It was 6 in the evening when we finally got home. The smell of the food greeted us at the door, state the obvious, mom's making a lot of delicious dinner tonight. As Shawn closed the door, mom already assumed who came in.

"May? Is that you? Or Shawn?"

"Yeah. It's us mom!" I yelled.

"Come in here, dinner's ready."

"We just ate—"

"Wait, are we really just going to pass on to that?" Shawn asked.

He's always been a fan of my mom's cooking skills, not only him, but Dad, Aunt Mary, Tippy and Sam too and all of those who were lucky to taste her amazing dishes. Forgot to mention myself. So do I.

I shrug, "Should we?"

He shakes his head with a smile, "Naaah. Come on."

I smile back as he grab my wrist and head into the kitchen.

"Hey mom. It smells paradise in here!" I said.

"Glad you two are back just on time. Take a seat."

Shawn and I sat next to each other, mom looks at me and I know what she has in mind.

"Well, you two look cute." She says as she puts down the bowl of vegetable soup.

"Wow, really Mrs. Archer?"

"You seem like you just wanna hear it again." Mom jokes.

"Yes, I do." He chuckles.

"You two look REALLY CUTE TOGETHER."

"Okay mom, that's—"

"Thanks Mrs. Archer." Shawn immediately answered, "Greatest compliment I heard, specially coming from May's mom.

I shake my head with an eye roll along with a smile. Mom lands another dish after another. It's like a feast. It does always look like a feast whenever Shawn is around. She treats him good in return for my dad's good treatment in his father's hands.

"Ah, May, can you get your Aunt in her room?"

I stood, went to Aunt Mary's room and told her it's time to eat. She got up quickly with a small transparent container of new medicines in her hand. It's tempting to see the pills inside it, they're transparent too, in colors of yellow and green.

"What meds are you taking now Aunt Mary?" I ask as we head into the kitchen.

"Oh, they're just silly vitamins for my immune system."

I nod, "I almost forgot, how did your doctor's appointment go?"

"It's fine. I still need to take all these sickening meds to keep me going."

"Don't say that, you're gonna be okay. Don't be too negative."

She nods, "I hope so too."

"Don't hope, believe. You are going to be okay."

When we got into the kitchen, Shawn seems so eager to eat. Again. We sit down, mom lands her final dish then joins in afterwards, and it's time to eat.

"Let's pray first." Mom said and we reach and held hands; and began to pray.

After a minute of thanking the Divine for the food we've received, we start to eat. No matter how full are stomachs were, we still went to dig in.
