A MONTH LATER

Athena and Michael stood in the courthouse hallway, relief washing over them as they heard the news of Kayden's exoneration. The weight that had been pressing down on their shoulders for weeks had been lifted, leaving behind a sense of liberation that was almost palpable.

Athena turned to Michael as she let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. "He's free," she whispered, her voice filled with a mixture of disbelief and gratitude.

Michael pulled her into a tight embrace, his own emotions threatening to spill over as he held her close. "He's free because you never gave up on him," he murmured against her hair, his voice filled with pride and admiration.

Athena leaned back slightly to look up at Michael, a smile playing on her lips. "We never gave up on him," she corrected gently, her gaze reflecting the love and strength that had seen them through the darkest of days.

Once Kayden was released, he ran right to Athena and Michael. His eyes held a mix of emotions as he looked at Athena, gratitude and remorse swirling in their depths. Without a word, he pulled her into a tight hug, his voice catching with unspoken apologies. Athena returned the embrace, feeling the weight of the past month lifting off her shoulders now that Kayden was finally free.

Michael stood by their side, his presence a pillar of unwavering support as they stood there in silent solidarity. As they left the courthouse, the three of them walked out into the sunlight, a newfound sense of hope and unity binding them together.

"You did it," Athena said softly, her voice filled with relief and joy.

Kayden nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Thanks to both of you," he said, his words heavy with emotion.

"So, what do you want to do now?" Michael asked, "You're free. You must want to do something."

"I'm going to go see Claire," Kayden grinned, "I've missed her so much while I was locked away. How is she?"

"Tearing herself up over this trial," Athena said honestly, "But she'll be okay once she sees you out of the orange jumpsuit."

The trio made their way out of the courthouse, flanked by Michael's security team as they navigated through the swarm of paparazzi and reporters.

As they entered the car waiting for them, a sense of quiet contentment settled over the group. The weight that had consumed them for so long seemed to have dissipated, leaving behind a newfound sense of freedom and unity.

As they arrived at Kayden and Claire's house, Athena yelled out the window, "Enjoy your husband, Claire!" with a smile just as Bill rolled his eyes in amusement and drove away from the house.

Claire ran out of the house, tears streaming down her face as she embraced Kayden, holding onto him as if he might disappear if she let go. Kayden held her just as tightly, whispering words of love and reassurance in her ear. The trials they had faced had only strengthened their bond, and now that he was finally free, they both knew they could face anything together.
