Ninety Eight

"Hey Charlie!" Fred said
Two days before the tournament now, Charlie asked us to meet him at night near the entrance of the forbidden forest

"Hello Fred and Cora" he said softly "remember you know nothing of what I'm showing you" he winked

"Got it" Fred said holding my hand tightly

We discussed last night about the tournament, he's still concerned about my well being during it but he's become more supportive as it's neared
Draco has been studying dragons with me almost daily, Hermione has been helping me out as much as she can as well. She's had her time split between Harry and I
I would study with Harry but we are separate in this competition, we have been told to keep to that other than meeting with our sponsor who unfortunately is Moody

We began walking towards the center of the forest
I haven't been here for a while, but it hasn't changed much since
The forest is as dark as before with the same creatures filling the night with their songs
The full moon is going to be the same day as the competition but I've been told it's during the day so I won't be burning at least

I looked at Fred and he was chatting with his older brother
His face was beautiful as always, but it hid the worry he refused to show me
I could feel his hand tense the close we got to the center
And heat
I could feel so much heat coming from the forest

I looked forward just in time to duck from oncoming flames
Fred pushed my head down and Charlie moved out of the way

We waited a few minutes before rising again
Charlie laughed
"That's got to be the Hungarian Hortail, she's well...different"

Fred got up and then slowly let me up too
"How so?"

"You'll see" he answered

We walked closer to where the forest felt on fire and saw cages filled with 4 dragons
Most of them were laying down calmly...except for the largest dragon who I assumed was the horntail

"Beautiful aren't they?!" Charlie said excited

I nodded my head but Fred stayed tense
"If you say so"

"Cora I know you can't pick it's up to luck, but if you're lucky you'll get any but the horntail. She's brutal, beautiful but brutal" Charlie said looking at the dragon who was charging up again

She blew fire out towards her handler and then made eye contact with us
I stared at her dark eyes and watched as she geared up for another blown towards us
I didn't move, I couldn't
I just wanted to stare at the flames rushing towards me

But Fred pulled me away and Charlie pushed me as well
  "What are you doing?" Fred asked nervously

  "She's got it" Charlie said smirking

Fred looked at him and then me
  "Got what?"

  "You wouldn't get it" he said to Fred

I continued staring at the creature who I swear smirked my way

The night before the first tournament has arrived
Fred and I were resting together on the couch while Harry stared at the fire pit
George left with Lee to collect last minute bets on tomorrow's challenge
"You're the top pick next to Krum"
He told me
It surprised me to hear so many people wanted me to win, not Harry
Hermione was with Ron, they were still eating dinner when we left for the common room

I ran my hands through Fred's hair softly
"Are you nervous for tomorrow?" He asked me

I shook my head no

"I'll take all your nerves then" he chuckled awkwardly

I took out my parchment
I'll be ok

"I know" he said "if you keep playing in my hair I'm going to end up asleep you know"
He yawned slightly and I smiled

An Hour went by and Fred had indeed passed out
I couldn't sleep, my adrenaline was kicking in for tomorrow's challenge
Harry was in the same seat he had been since dinner
I slightly moved Fred off my lap and sat beside Harry

He looked at me and half smiled
I placed my hand on his lap but then I heard a crackle come from the fireplace
I looked at Harry who got up and moved closer to it
"Sirius?!" He said

I got up closer as well and saw Sirius's face inside the fire pit

"What are you doing?" Harry asked

"Checking on the two of you before tomorrow's challenge, Cora your dad would be here but you know" he said

I shrugged my shoulders
Tomorrow is a full moon I'm sure he's hidden

"Harry I got your letter, I know we discussed death eaters when I visited but I wanted to continue our discussion. Is anyone in the room that shouldn't be listening?" He asked

Harry turned around to look
"No one, Fred is asleep that's the only other person who's here"

Sirius nodded his head
"Karkaroff used to be a death eater, he was captured by Moody when you know who disappeared. I think before school started someone tried getting Moody away from his position here, they entered his home and tried to surround him but Moody bested them. I know he gives off weird vibes to your Cora but he used to be a good man. I believe he still is, he's the safest person next to Dumbledore to be around. I heard he's the one supervising the two of you"

"Unfortunately yeah, he's kind of an arse" Harry said

"He's tough, and definitely can be. Harry Cora I heard the first challenge is dragons, have you been studying them?"

I nodded my head but Harry stayed silent
Sirius glared at Harry
"Harry really?"

"I've tried it's hard to study when everyone hates you and ruins any study time you have" he snapped

"I'm sure that's not true—" Sirius stopped speaking "someone is coming...stay safe both of you please"

The fire crackled again, leaving burnt logs behind
Harry turned around the same time I did and we both watched as Ron and Hermione walked into the common room

I waved at them but Harry stayed silent staring at Ron who glared back at him
Hermione came up to my side and after I put my hand in hers we walked up to our dorm and slept together, since neither of us could sleep with tomorrow's event
