One Hundred Fourty Two

We flew for miles and miles
The air was cold, so I began to shiver after my adrenaline wore off
I didn't have to tell Cor that though, she either felt me shivering or understood without me having to say anything because she started to fly out of the clouds and closer to the ground
I held on tight as she swerved through trees, finally landing in an open meadow
Flowers that were bloomed surrounded this location, red pink purple yellow blue every color you could imagine existed here

I got off slowly, not sure what Cor would do if I moved too quickly
But she was patient, she let me get off of her and then she began rolling around in the flowers
  "Do you like flowers?" I asked curiously

I heard wings flapping nearby
I almost forgot about Charlie and Nico behind us

I heard a dragon roar, Cor responded with a roar of her own
Next thing I knew both Charlie and Nico were landing by us
  "Cora, I'm supposed to keep an eye on you how can I if you don't tell us where you're landing" Charlie said getting off Norbert with ease

  "I'm sorry, I would have kept going but I got really cold" I showed him my hands that were still trembling and slightly purple

  "I didn't think about bringing you warmer clothes" Charlie said running his hand through his hair "sorry"

Nico got off of his dragon and came closer to me
He took my hands into his and blew hot air onto them
Fred did this for me so many times before
I felt my cheeks heating up, and I tried to not read his emotions but he was just so...happy

  "Better?" He asked

I nodded my head
  "Thanks"

  "Why do you get so cold? I was sweating in the Romania sun" he said chuckling

  "Uhm I have a condition that makes me run really cold and then hot at times too...this is a really cold time"

  "You're interesting, you know that?"

  "Am I?"

  "Kind of mysterious" he winked at me and let go of my hands to meet back with Charlie who conveniently left when Nico came closer

I walked around the field, and found a spot where all the flowers met
I sat down and looked up at the sky, the clouds that we were riding in were still there
Fluffy and filled with cold mist that I knew felt good to everyone else but me

  "Let's explore" Charlie said coming back over to me
He had two sandwiches in his hand, I saw Nico feeding the dragons some sort of meat before heading over to us too

  "There's a cave over there I saw when I first landed, could be fun to check out" I said

  "A cave huh? Why not" Charlie said "I'm up for exploring"

  "Me too" Nico said as well

We left our dragons in the field as we walked over to a small opening to the cave I saw
It was tiny, a lot smaller than I thought
  "Sorry it looks like we can't go in" Nico said

I heard something just then
  "Did you hear that?" I asked them

  "Hear what?" Charlie asked

I got closer to the opening and heard it again
  "It sounds like uhm, like a cry for help"

They both walked over to me and placed their ears onto the cave
  "Are you sure?" Nico asked

  "Yeah, I think I need to check it out. Something is pulling me to look"

  "Well you're the only one small enough to go in, be careful ok?" Charlie said

I nodded my head
I took off my shoes and left my socks on
Knowing that it could be too tight for my boots

I got down on my knees and began crawling through the small tunnel for the cave
It was tight for me, if I got lost or hurt I wouldn't be able to get rescued but I needed to continue going in
The closer I got the worse I felt for whatever was stuck in here

The crying got louder and louder
The walls were dripping with water, it was freezing down here
I tried to not focus on the cold, but it was seeping through my clothes and dampening me right to my core
But I continued going

I saw a light at the end of the tunnel, moving faster towards it I finally made it out
The cave was ginormous
Inside there was a pool of water, the clearest water I've ever seen
When I got closer I could see cave fish swimming around, the bottom looked so close but when I took a stick and placed it inside I couldn't reach the bottom

I heard the cry again
I turned around and saw what was making that noise
A small dragon, the size of a niffler, was shaking and crying
It began walking towards me, my instincts told me to go closer to it as well
When we met in the middle I saw that it's wings were clipped, and there were marks all over its poor body
  "What happened to you" I said picking it up slowly

The creature let me hold it, it even cuddled closer into my chest as I tried to give it any kind of body heat I could spare

  "Are you ok?" I heard Charlie's voice echo into the cave

  "There's a baby dragon down here, it's hurt" I said back

  "Can you bring it out?"

  "I'm going to yes"
The tunnel was tight, but no matter what I was going to make sure the baby dragon got out and made it with me

I placed the dragon inside my shirt and began going back the way I came in
The dragon stayed on my chest, breathing heavily but it stayed
  "I'm going to get you out" I told it

When I squeezed out of the tunnel, Charlie and Nico were waiting for us
Nico extended his hands to me and I grabbed it with the one I wasn't using to hold the dragon to myself

I went inside my shirt and pulled it out once I was back on my feet
  "It's hurt really bad" I said passing the dragon to Charlie
The look on both of their faces explained their emotions
