Sixty Two

We walked for over an hour
The sun was just barely beginning to rise, we were supposed to meet with Arthur's friend at 5 but we are running closer to 530 because of Ron and Harry
I tried to keep my shivering to myself, but Fred knew me better
He kept me close to his side, keeping me warm for most of the walk
I was content being next to Fred, I had no complaints but Ron groaned about the walk making it drag on
  "Are we there yet dad?" He said at least 5 times

Fred and George would retaliate everytime with something new and snarky
I have walked longer distances than this, but Ron enjoys being lazy
I'm surprised he didn't beg his brothers to apparate him here

  "Ah there it is!" Arthur said

  "Finally" Ron moaned

I looked up ahead and saw an older male around Arthur's age waving to us
  "Who's that dad?" Ginny asked

  "Amos Diggory" he said waving back

Fred George and Harry all looked at each other
  "Diggory??" Fred said

We walked closer and saw the male coming towards us
  "Thought you found another way, took a while to get here huh?" He said shaking all of our hands "all yours?"

  "Just the redheads, Fred George Ginny and Ron, their friends Hermione Cora and Harry" Arthur said

  "Harry Potter??" He asked "good to meet you boy my son told me a lot about how he beat you in that game last year"

I looked at Fred and he rolled his eyes
A thump was heard from behind me and I jumped, clutching my chest

  "Hello" Cedric said "I didn't mean to scare you" he held his hand out for me to shake and I did

  "It's ok" I said bringing my heart rate back down

Cedric kissed my hand and then walked over to his dad
I looked at Fred, his jaw was tightening and his ears were turning bright red
I saw his lips move into a scowl almost instantly when he saw Cedric behind us

I looked at George and he was laughing
  "Told you mate" he said to Fred

I looked at them curiously but our group began walking again so I moved along without asking what he meant by that

I went to go back to walking with Fred and George but Cedric walked over to me
  "Cora, have a good summer?" He asked nicely

  "I did, did you?"

  "I did, excited for the game?" He asked smiling at me

I heard footsteps hurrying behind me and when I looked around I saw Fred push his way in between me and Cedric

  "Diggory" he said glaring at Cedric

  "Weasley?" He said confused, chuckling at his informality

  "Hey Cedric come here for a moment" his dad called
Cedric smiled at me and then walked up to meet his dad

Fred stayed by my side, closer than normal for us walking
  "Everything ok?" I asked

  "Mhm" he said staring at Cedric

I lightly grabbed his face and stopped walking
He stopped with me
"You sure? Did I do something...?"

He put his hand over mine on his cheek
"No, you didn't do anything" he laid his head into my hand "it's really nothing Corey, thank you for checking on me"

My cheeks lifted up
"Of course, I care a lot about you"

I took his hand in mine and walked back to our group with him
