HAIXIN PARK
A young man that was dressed in a traditional Chinese long grey robe and gave others the impression that he was from the ancient times, stood near the fountain at the entrance of the park. Perhaps due to his unique fashion style, he attracted a lot of attention from passersby. He held a luopan(geomantic compass) in one hand and a glass bottle in his other while looking around as if he was searching for something.
This person was Jisoo's Second Martial Senior Brother, Xu Wei. He overheard his Junior Martial Brother Jisoo and his master's conversation about the crimson-eyed cat case the night before and decided to take on this mission.
"Over here." The luopan finally locked on to a specific direction.
He walked in the direction pointed out by the luopan. About 10 minutes later, he reached a small forest near the lake at the center of the park right at midday, where the sun was shining at its brightest. However, this forest gave off an unusual sense of chillness.
"It must be here." Xu Wei kept his luopan and took out a Demonic Suppression Talisman. He then followed a trail of evil energy and slowly walked into the center of the forest. Soon, he found the origin of the evil energy on a long bench situated in the forest.
A pudgy cat of an unknown breed laid languidly on the long bench. Its 4 legs were spread out as it contentedly basked under the sun.
Was it actually basking under the sun?
Xu Wei's brows furrowed and instinctively felt that something was amiss. Even though ghosts and evil spirits would not disintegrate the moment they touched sunlight, most of these dark beings still abhorred sunlight. It seemed like this evil spirit had already evolved into a malevolent spectre.
Just as Xu Wei discovered the crimson-eyed cat, the cat spotted him at the same time. He saw the cat slightly turn its head in his direction, revealing a hair-raising pair of bloody crimson cat eyes.
"Prepare to die, you malevolent spectre!" Xu Wei flung out the talisman in his hand. The yellow talisman then turned into a ray of bright light and shot towards the wild crimson-eyed cat.
"Mrraowww!"
The cat let out a sharp yowl but reacted quickly to the attack. It flipped its body around before pouncing towards Xu Wei. Despite its bulky build, it was unexpectedly swift and dodged the talisman with an unbelievable speed midair. After dodging, it increased its speed further when landing, darted forward and leapt up Xu Wei's shoulder and gave him a fierce swipe with its claws.
Xu Wei let out a muffled cry of pain. He reflexively touched the side of his face with his left hand. Upon removing it, he saw that it was smeared with blood. There were even traces of dark energy within his blood.
"Foul beast!" Xu Wei was enraged. He took out a peach wood sword and pointed it directly at the red-eyed cat.
The cat stood under the shade of a tree-its expression filled with ridicule. It then moved its claws that slashed at Xu Wei earlier near its mouth and slowly licked them one by one, portraying a demeanour full of arrogance and contempt.
He was actually mocked by a cat. How could he still take it lying down?
Xu Wei fumed but he understood that he had underestimated the true powers of this malevolent spectre. He had assumed that it was an evil spirit that could only entice humans but dared not take action personally. Even if it had cultivated into a malevolent spectre, it would not possess strong spiritual powers either. However, from what he had seen so far, this malevolent spectre was more powerful than he expected. Furthermore, it must have hidden its aura intentionally so that its traces could not be detected on the liver-digging devil.
