GRANDMASTER XU'S HOME
Jisoo hung up the call and walked to the living room from his room. His master, Xu Ji, and his senior martial brother, Xu Wei, were waiting for him in the living room in a stifling atmosphere. Jisoo's legs turned jelly-like when he noticed their grave expressions.
"Master, I was wrong."
"What wrong have you committed?" Grandmaster Xu sent Jisoo a complicated look with a tinge of disappointment in his gaze.
"I was too useless. Even though I am a metaphysical disciple, I was easily possessed by a malicious ghost."
"With the standard of your metaphysical skills, it would be more shocking if you were not possessed." Grandmaster Xu nonchalantly responded.
What?
Jisoo lifted his head up abruptly. His current expression grew worse than when he was admitting his fault earlier. It was only embarrassing for him to admit that he was useless earlier on but his master's words were downright insulting!
That's odd. Even though his master used to regard him as a useless bum, his master would never disparage him so directly. Could he have made other mistakes that he was unaware of? Jisoo shifted his gaze back and forth between his master and senior martial brother as he pondered deeply. However, he could not think of further wrongs that he committed.
"Master, don't look at me like that. What have I done wrong? Just tell me directly, I would definitely amend my ways." Jisoo replied.
Grandmaster Xu saw that Jisoo had an unperturbed expression on his face-it was clearly apparent that he did not know what he had done wrong. The grandmaster let out a sigh and asked, "Let me ask you. Do you know that Irene is raising a ghost?"
"Erm, about that, lady boss indeed is raising a ghost." Guilt started to creep into Jisoo's heart. After all, raising ghosts was a forbidden act in the metaphysical sects. However, Irene was not a member of the MA and she did not have any nefarious intentions behind the act of raising ghosts so he did not inform the MA about it. Could it be that his master was blaming him for this matter?
"It isn't really considered as raising ghosts. Taeyeon-the ghost that lady boss is raising-is actually the Ghost Divinator who previously injured Senior Martial Brother." Jisoo explained. "When Taeyeon evolved into a malicious ghost, his younger sister had sacrificed a portion of her soul to him. This led to his younger sister reincarnating with blindness for several lifetimes since she had an incomplete soul. Taeyeon wanted to return his younger sister's soulpiece back to her so he had sought lady boss' assistance. After that, lady boss used her Witch clan's hidden technique to extract his younger sister's soul piece within him and returned it back to her. However, in exchange, Taeyeon had to serve lady boss for 10 years. This is enforced by a contract. If he did not follow the contractual terms, his younger sister's soul piece would not be returned completely. As such, strictly speaking, lady boss isn't really raising a ghost."
Even though Jisoo's voice gradually became softer as the explanation went on, he still gritted his teeth to finish it.
"This isn't the issue of Irene raising a ghost, it's about-...." Grandmaster Xu pointed at Jisoo and scolded while breathing in harshly. "Are you not aware of the risks posed by ghost generals staying in the mortal realm? You actually choose not to report such an important matter."
"Master, be careful of your blood pressure." Xu Wei noticed that Grandmaster Xu had truly become enraged and hurried forward to calm him.
Ghost general? Didn't lady boss defeat the ghost general? And what did this have to do with him? Why was his master so mad at him?
