During the period the Ghost King resided in Lishan, the snow in Hai City never ceased. In just a single night, the entire city was blanketed in white.
Hai City rarely experienced snow. Occasionally, a few snowflakes would fall from the sky, only to melt the moment they touched the ground. Therefore, it was impossible for snow to accumulate. On the next day, when the children woke up to the rare scenery, they became ecstatic and enthusiastically played in the snowy grounds. Even the busy working adults found themselves uplifted by the unusual scene. It appeared that, in any region, winter could truly be embraced only when accompanied by falling snow.
While the citizens of Hai City celebrated the unexpected snowfall with cheers, a group of people was in a state of extreme distress. They were the members of Hai City's MA, who had been nearly wiped out the night before. To ordinary mortals, the snow seemed to be a result of the recent unusual climate. However, the MA members knew that in every snowflake that fell from the sky, there was a trace of ghost energy within.
Along with all the Hai City's citizens happily playing in the snow, the resident ghosts there were equally elated. Those ghosts, who initially did not dare to venture into the bright daylight due to the weak soul disposition, now eagerly emerged. They moved through every nook and cranny of Hai City, brushing arms with human passersby on the streets, as if they were actual human beings.
There were ghosts in areas with or without humans. Every car that drove on the street was unwittingly crushing thousands of ghosts beneath its tires. Even though the MA members knew that these entities were all ghosts, the ghost figures appeared remarkably human. Consequently, witnessing these ghostly figures being repeatedly crushed was akin to a live massacre scene that struck horror into the hearts of each MA member.
They never knew that so many ghosts resided in Hai City, their population seemingly overwhelming the human inhabitants.
"Chairman, there is a huge number of ghosts approaching Hai City from the neighbouring cities. If this situation persists, the ordinary citizens of Hai City would be affected," reported a member of the MA to Chairman Qi Xiuran.
"Ghost King is a beacon for wandering ghosts out there. As long as Ghost King remains here, ghosts would naturally gather around." Grandmaster Xu sighed, "Ghost King crossed almost half of the nation to reach here, so all the ghosts encountered during his journey...."
"No, we must find a solution to prevent those ghosts from approaching." Qi Xiuran said. "These ghosts are currently drawn to the traces of ghost energy within the snowflakes. Once they absorb a significant amount of this energy, they would begin to harm humans."
The current Hai City was filled with ghosts. If chaos broke out, it would swiftly escalate into pandemonium.
"This is not difficult. Once backup from the headquarters arrives, we can load a drone with metaphysical tools and set up a cleansing spell formation in the sky over Hai City to cleanse the traces of ghost energy within the snowflakes." Grandmaster Xu suggested. "As long as no traces of ghost energy remain in the snowflakes, the gathered crowd of ghosts would gradually leave Hai City and head to Lishan instead."
Lishan... Qi Xiuran's expression worsened at the thought of Lishan. Ghost King was residing there right now.
"We can't allow them to fight. If they battle each other, this world would be doomed." This was an indisputable matter, however, Qi Xiuran did not have a single clue on how to stop this battle from occurring.
"I just don't understand what Irene is thinking. If they battle with Ghost King, Ephialtes would definitely awaken, regardless of the outcome. It would lead to their inevitable deaths. Even if it's not to save the world, shouldn't she give Winter to Ghost King to save herself? If she gives Winter to him, both she and Lisa would be able to survive. Otherwise, the entire world would be doomed along with them." Qi Xiuran was so enraged that he even wanted to flip the table.
