ROOFTOP OF THE VILLA
The moment Ghost Gentleman felt the completion of the pact, he let out a relieved smile.
He succeeded. He had finally given back his sister's eyes.
"Thank you Master, and thank you too, Winter." The ghost's facial complexion still looked awful despite feeling the gradual return of his ghost energies to his body after they had exploded out at the point where his soul was torn apart. Even though that piece of soul fragment did not belong to him, it had still stayed within his body for more than 700 years. It had even formed a part of his strength. Therefore, when it was forcibly removed from his soul, he suffered quite a fair bit.
"There's no need to call me 'Master'. We are just in an employer-employee relationship." Irene replied.
What Ghost Gentleman had signed, was a 10 years service pact with her, it was different from those slavery contracts in the olden days.
"In that case...." Ghost Gentleman took a look at Irene before shifting his line of sight to Lisa who was standing next to her. The corners of his lips curled up slightly and he continued, "Thank you lady boss."
Irene did not refute him this time round and instead just smiled happily. Lisa's stare at him also turned gentler.
In this moment, Ghost Gentleman honestly felt that if he were selected to be an official after passing the imperial examination when he was still alive, he would probably have been able to navigate the court politics swimmingly well.
"Winter, what are you doing?" Out of the blue, Irene spotted Winter standing beside Ghost Gentleman while opening its mouth wide and taking in huge breaths of Ghost Gentleman's returning ghost energies.
Hearing her words, the ghost also lowered his head and was bewildered at the sight of the doll's actions.
"Erm... usually after each pact is completed, Winter would be able to absorb some emotions from the customer to nourish its own emotional foundations. However, since the main party of the contract is you this time, your sister's emotions that should have been taken were not absorbed into the pact spell formation. Therefore, Winter probably thought that these ghost energies are... its rewards." Irene immediately stopped Winter while explaining to Ghost Gentleman.
Winter was able to absorb the emotions of malicious ghosts by directly devouring their energies. However, it could only absorb the emotions of living human beings through the pact spell formation. In addition, emotions from living humans were more vibrant and the nutrition that Winter could receive from such emotions was much greater. Furthermore, the emotions taken in by the pact spell formations were usually positive. This was why Irene needed to activate the pact spell formation time and again as it was difficult to find any lingering positive sentiments in malicious ghosts.
Ghost Gentleman looked at the confused look of Winter, which was currently in lady boss' arms. He could not resist laughing out loud, "It's alright. Let it continue eating. Winter had worked very hard tonight, so it is definitely appropriate for it to receive some rewards."
"No, we have already discussed the payment beforehand. I cannot allow Winter to take more than what we had agreed upon." Irene was a businesswoman that valued integrity. Therefore, when she said that she refused to take a cent more than what was discussed, she would definitely follow through with her words.
"Since I have already returned back my sister's eyes and the pact spell formation has been kept, this means that the transaction is completed. So just treat these energies as a gift from me to Winter. Besides... you don't wish for another ghost general to be born in this world right?" Ghost Gentleman said.
