"The snow in Hai City has persisted for 6 consecutive days. We have finally determined the cause of this abnormal weather phenomenon.... Meteorologists at the weather bureau have confirmed that this anomaly will cease in 2 days' time. Recent internet rumours regarding an impending doomsday are baseless and without merit. We urge all citizens to disregard rumours, and refrain from spreading false information. Now is the time for us to calmly prepare for the approaching Lunar New Year...."
In the municipal criminal investigation division, Yang Ming was holding onto a few case files as he stepped into Mina's office when he heard the news.
"The meteorologists have finally identified the cause. If they continue to withhold explanations for the public, the city would definitely descend into chaos." Yang Ming sighed. "In just these few days, the crime rate in Hai City has more than doubled. I doubt we would be able to return home to celebrate the new year."
"What are those?" Mina looked at the files held by Yang Ming.
"We completed the interrogation of the murderer we apprehended last night."
"What was the motive?"
"The murderer claimed that since doomsday is upon us, he must acclimate himself to a life of bloody battles. What a lunatic," Yang Ming rebuked. "How should we handle this case now? If he truly suffers from mental illness, he may be unfit to stand trial. It's infuriating."
The only stroke of luck in this criminal case was that the lunatic slipped and fell on the snowy ground while chasing his victim, causing him to fail to deliver the final fatal blow. This allowed the victim to survive the ordeal.
"Get a psychiatrist to evaluate him."
"Understood. People these days seem to have watched too many movies. At the slightest abnormality, everyone constantly relates them to the apocalypse. Does the public have such a fascination with the end of the world? Isn't this just a prolonged case of snowfall lasting for 7 to 8 days?" Yang Ming criticized.
"What did you just say?" Mina was stunned.
"Snowfall."
"How many days has it been snowing?"
"7 to 8 days. Didn't the news broadcaster just mention that it will end either tomorrow or the day after? If it stops snowing tomorrow, it will be just 7 days." Yang Ming responded.
This snow will continue for 7 days. Leave Hai City first. Only return if Hai City is still around 7 days later.
"Damn!" Mina suddenly spat out an expletive, giving Yang Ming a huge fright.
"Lead Inspector Mina, what's up with you?"
Mina ignored his subordinate. Instead, he took out his phone to send a WeChat message to Lisa.
Mina: Don't tell me that those doomsday rumours on the Internet originated from your end?
He vividly remembered Lisa mentioning this in the studio on the first day of the snowfall that the snow would persist for 7 days, along with something about a ghost king bringing destruction to the world.
At that moment, Lisa was engaged in a discussion with Ghost Gentleman in the villa. Glancing at the message from Mina, he responded to the inspector with just 2 simple words: "You lunatic!"
Lisa had long since resigned himself to the fact that the inspector's unwavering faith in scientific reasoning made it futile for him to grasp the truth.
"So the association's assault on Ghost King failed so easily?" Lisa and Irene were listening to Ghost Gentleman recounting MA's battle with Ghost King. "Is the association that weak?"
