Vanessa Freitas' POV

It was Todoroki's first round and he was up against Sero. I got upset about this because Sero was a good friend of mine... but I really wanted to see Todoroki win.

The fire had gone off at the corners of the battle arena, indicating that the battle was starting. "Thanks for waiting!" Present Mic yelled. "Next up is... these guys!" Todoroki and Sero's images popped on screen and that's when I started to panic from fear.

"He's good! He's good, but what's with that plainness he can't get rid of? From the hero course, it's Hanta Sero! Versus-Taking second, then first in the prelims! You're way too strong, kid! He wasn't recommended for admission for nothing! Also from the hero course, it's Shoto Todoroki!"

I looked at Todoroki on the giant screens, only to see that he looked... angry and upset...? I got worried about what had happened to him and made a mental note to ask him after. "And now, for the second match for the finals-ready... start!"

I saw Sero grab Todoroki with his tape and spun him around the arena. I quickly stood up and clenched my fists to my sides. "Dammit..." I hissed under my breath. "A surprise attack aimed to push his opponent out of bounds! Don't you think that was the best choice for this situation?! Seriously, get him Sero!"

Suddenly, Todoroki stepped his right foot down and spread a huge ice slab over half of the entire stadium! Todoroki broke Sero's now ice-frozen tape from around himself and slowly made his way towards Sero. "Sero, can you move?" Midnight asked, half frozen by Todoroki's ice. Sero replied something that we couldn't hear, while shivering from the ice. "Sero is immobilized! Todoroki advances to the second round!"

At the announcement, I shot up out of my seat and cheered. Miku pulled me down and before I could ask why, the entire stadium showed me the reason. They were screaming to Sero, "Don't worry about it!" This made me feel a bit upset because Todoroki was clearly upset and had taken his anger out on Sero. He put his left hand on Sero's body and began to melt the ice. I noticed him looking away from Sero with regret, and I decided to go talk to him about it.

After the battle, I made my way to the waiting rooms. It was difficult to get there on my own because of my injuries and pains. I had a bunch of bandages wrapped around my head, arms, and left leg. My right leg had a leg boot cast on it because I had apparently landed on my head and leg when I crashed to the ground during the race. I only need to wear the boot for 48 hours, though.

I opened each door, looking for Todoroki, and occasionally apologizing to the students in the rooms for barging in. And I continued to open random waiting room doors, until I found Todoroki sitting alone in one.

I smiled and speed walked up to him. I couldn't run because of my leg, but I could speed walk. Todoroki looked at me and faintly smiled... Although the smile only lasted for less than a second. He quickly looked back down at the table and continued to look emotionless.

"Todoroki." I called him. I could tell I sounded sad—wel,l because I was—and sat down beside him. "I saw how angry and sad you looked down there. What had happened earlier? Did I do something wrong—"

"No you did nothing." He cut me off, and I mustered a nod. "Then... Do you wanna talk about it?" His glare never leaving the table, he now frowned. "We're meeting up this weekend to talk about your scar, right? Then I can tell you then."

A soft gasp left my lips. I nodded sadly and went to sit with him when Present Mic suddenly announced on the speaker that Iida and Hatsume were battling next.

"Wow, I guess Kaminari's battle went by quickly." I forced a chuckle, but then looked down again. I began to think that Todoroki didn't want me here, so I started to stand up. It was really painful and slow because of the soreness in my bones. I grunted and Todoroki instantly grabbed me by the shoulders and sat me back down, a yelp escaping my lips as he did so.

"Why were you going to leave?" "I thought you didn't want me here. That you wanted some time alone. So I thought that I should leave." Todoroki paused for a second, seeming to process what I said. "... As much as I enjoy your company... I would like some time alone." I nodded and began to stand up, which was terribly painful.

Todoroki softly gasped and quickly stood up. He put his arm around my waist to help me up, and I tried to not blush to the best of my ability. As soon as I was fully standing up, which was about ten seconds later, he released his arm around me—which I began to miss badly—and made my way to the door.

"Will the journey back be too painful for you, Freitas? Do you need me to take you back?" I smiled and put my hands on my hips, trying to ease the pain. "I don't want to bother your 'episode' Todoroki. I can—"

I grunted when a sudden sharp pain coursed through my stomach. I threw myself against the wall, gripped my stomach, flew to the ground, and whined under my breath. Todoroki rushed to me and looked at me while panicking. This lasted for about thirty seconds.

After the pain finished, I stood back up and Todoroki put his hand on my stomach. He looked at me concerned and this time, I couldn't help but blush. "What's wrong with your stomach? Do you need me to take you to Recovery Girl?" He asked me, but I ended up sighing. "Speaking of Recovery Girl, after I came out of the emergency room, she told me that I would experience heavy pains in my stomach and intestines every once in a while. So this is expected. It's been happening about every ten to fifteen minutes." He smiled with a nod, and I couldn't help but sweetly smile in return. There was his smile...

I now pointed towards the table we were sitting at earlier, "Go sit down, Todoroki. I'll be able to make it back to the rest of our class in about twenty minutes. I hope you feel better." I waved to him and before I could leave the room, he suddenly hugged me from behind. He looked down at me because he was much taller than me and sadly smiled. "You said the bad pains come every ten to fifteen minutes, and it takes twenty minutes to get back to our class's seats. With pain that bad, I am not leaving you without someone to help you."

Removing himself from me, my body now aching his warm-cold touch, he walked up to the door and extended a hand to me. "Come on, I'll walk you back."

While me and Todoroki walked back to where my classmates were sitting, we talked about what happened to Todoroki during the obstacle race and Cavalry Battle. I had an 'episode' of pain on the way there and Todoroki helped support me. He gave me his arm to squeeze, which I gladly but quickly took. Once we had made it back to where our class was sitting, Todoroki and I said our goodbyes and he told me that he hoped I would feel better. I told him the same and I went to sit beside Miku.

"Look who got escorted by a certain someone~!" "Shut up." I glared at her, causing her to burst into laughter. I then looked at the battlefield to see that Eijiro was battling Tetsutetsu. I gasped at the realization that I was missing my bro's battle and instantly felt bad.

I drew a microphone from my drawing board and yelled out of it, "Let's go Eijiro Kirishima! Woo-hoooo!" The whole stadium looked at me with stupid and weird faces, but I didn't give a shit if it meant I could support Eijiro. I saw Eijiro look at me and give me a thumbs up and a bright smile. I did the same and continued to watch him fight.

After what looked like a hard battle, Eijiro and Tetsutetsu ended up in a draw! I sighed and hoped that Eijiro would still be able to move on. When Eijiro came up to our class, he thanked me for the encouragement and I gave him a quick hug. We patted each other on the back and started to chat about what I'd miss, when the next two contestants were suddenly up... Bakugo and Uraraka.
