All 100 students now stood in a specific spot in the arena with their school uniforms on. Miku and Vanessa stood next to one another, Todoroki to Vanessa's left and Bakugo, Kirishima, and Kaminari were to Miku's right.
Mera stood behind a podium, a massive electronic billboard screen behind him. "Okay. Everyone. Thanks for your hard work in today's exam. Now, before I announce the results."
"I should probably explain the way we evaluated you. Between HUC, and those of us at the Heroes Public Safety Commission, we had a two-fold demerit system that we used to determine your total scores. In other words, we were evaluating you based on how few mistakes you made in a crisis situation. Anyway, the names of those who passed are listed here in alphabetical order. Keep my words in mind as you search the screen for your name."
The screen lit up with the list, and the atmosphere became ultra-tense. The pressure was on.
Vanessa and Miku desperately searched the board. "Yui... Yui.." "Freitas... Freita—" Both girls mumbled before they sharply gasped, turning to each other simultaneously. "I passed!"
"Right on!" Kirishima cheered to himself, but then turned to face his hot-headed friend. "But, uh..." "I didn't..." Bakugo grunted, and Miku noticed the expression on his face... pure anger mixed with utter shock. Her eyes drastically widened, Katsuki... didn't pass...?
"Todoroki!" Yoarashi screamed at the boy, walking over to him. He had a look of pure hatred in his eyes, but then he slammed his head to the ground. "I'm sorry! It's my fault that you didn't pass the licensing exam! My focus was too narrow minded! Forgive me!!"
Shoto didn't pass?! Vanessa panicked internally, a quick, sharp gasp leaving her. She immediately rushed to Todoroki's side, clinging onto his arm. Without a single smile, he patted his girlfriend's head, and her eyes widened at the look in his eyes...
Not only was it a sad look... but a disappointed one.
He was disappointed in himself... and unlike any other person on this planet... she could see it clear as day.
With a painful frown, Todoroki turned to face Yoarashi. "You're okay. I was the one who got us off to a bad start." "But, still!" "And thanks to the things you said to me, I have a lot to think about." Todoroki replied to the persistent giant.
"Holy shit— Did you really fail??" Mina walked up to Todoroki in shock, her gaze switching from the dual haired boy to the brunette holding onto his arm. "So neither of our top two dudes passed?" Sero added in surprisement, placing his hands on his waist.
Kaminari winked with a wide grin and a playful tone to Bakugo, nudging the sandy blond's shoulder, "Shoulda been more careful what you said. Words are important, you know." Yet, the pikachu was stunned in fear when Bakugo glared deadly at him.
