Chapter 98: Her Name

3rd Person POV

After a pretty bad scolding from less of All Might and more of Hound Dog, Midoriya ran back to the backstage room of the gymnasium where his classmates were cleaning up the leftovers of the performance, specifically Todoroki's ice.

"Heeey, good work buddy!" Mirio waved to Midoriya, Eri standing next to Mirio's leg. Midoriya was pretty calm until he spotted Eri and witnessed one of the best moments of his life...

The little girl smiling.

"That was crazy...! At first when there was a loud noise it was scary." Eri held her pumped fists to her chin in excitement. "But then everyone was jumping with the dance—" She pumped her fists to the sky before she held them to her chest again while Mirio copied all her arm movements. "—and then there was a flash and Deku you went away for a little bit—" she then shot her arms out to her sides and Mirio copied her. "—and a guy started flying in the air—!" Her fists went back to her chest, "That's when it started to get cold and I saw birds and there was a spinning light and then the whole place was frozen in golden sparkles and a bunch of people saying wow and you know what I said? Wow, too! It was so fun!"

The entire time she was talking to Midoriya, the green haired boy was nodding on the verge of tears. At the end, he was forced to wipe them away with his arm, which caught Eri's attention in confusion. Fortunately, Midoriya was able to regain himself and look down at Eri, happier than ever, "I'm glad you had such a good time, Eri."

In response, Eri's grin widened and she cutely giggled.

Vanessa Freitas' POV

I was slowly walking back into the gym backstage room with Miku after we delivered another load of ice to the melting crew. Well, Miku delivered ice. I'm basically useless with these damn crutches.

Once we were inside, I heard a cute giggle and looked over to find...

Eri.

At her presence, my heart immediately began pounding faster than I thought it ever could.

Oh my God— It's Eri!! What's she doing here?! Nevermind that, she's smiling!! I can't believe it!! Oh my God— Can I—?!

"Vanessa!" Miku snapped me out of it, and I let out a quick gasp. My best friend placed her hand on my shoulder and gave me a soft smile, "Go talk to her..."

"Y-You sure she'd want me to??" I nervously asked, but Miku only grinned, "Yeah, of course. Now, go!" She lightly shoved me at the end, and I giggled, "Alright, geez!"

Still incredibly nervous, I made my way over to the three. Midoriya was the first to see me and he kindly smiled with a wave, "Hey, Freitas...!" "Oh! Hey there too, Freitas!" Togata popped in, also just noticing me.

"Hi, guys." I waved back when I stopped in front of them, before I glanced down at Eri who looked up to me in shock. Her ruby orbs were staring into my emerald ones as she gripped onto Togata's pants with her left hand. "It's you..." she muttered, but the three of us could clearly hear it...

... And tears quickly began forming at the tips of my eyes.

She... She remembers me...!

"Why are you crying?" Eri calmly asked me. My eyes widened and I quickly wiped my tears away with my right hand, causing my right crutch to fall to the floor. However, Midoriya swiftly caught it before it could hit the ground.

"Oh, no reason! I'm just..." I glanced down at the ground in embarrassment as I leaned on my left crutch, before looking back at Eri, "... I'm just so glad you remember me...!"
