Chapter 46: Strict Orders

3rd Person POV

As Miku and Vanessa continued to walk through the trail, a weird smell suddenly filled Miku's senses.

"Hey, Vanessa, do you smell that?" Miku asked with a slight head tilt. Since she was a mouth-breather, Vanessa purposely breathed in through her nose, now smelling the weird scent. "Well, now I do. You know I'm a mouth-breather."

Suddenly, as the two girls continued on walking, Mandalay's Telepath Quirk activated, "Everyone!" The girls shivered, never experiencing Telepath before. "Two villains attacked us. It's possible that they're more coming...! Everyone, return to camp immediately. We're re-grouping. Do not engage with any enemies...!"

"Wait..." "What?!" Vanessa finished Miku's sentence in panic. The brunette shoved her small hands to her mouth, her eyes widening frantically. Noticing her about to have a panic attack, her best friend rushed to her side to hug her.

Miku held the panicked girl close to her as she rubbed her back, "We need to do as Mandalay says. We have to get back to camp...!"

Just when Miku released her hug on the small girl, with worried eyes, Vanessa frantically looked around. "Yeah, but how are we supposed to do that with blue fire and poisonous gas around us..."

A gasp escaped Miku's mouth, and she quickly looked around at their surroundings. Blue flames set the forest ablaze, and the other half was filled with a purple gas that they could automatically assume was poisonous. Miku looked down at her best friend, determination in her amethyst eyes, "We'll just take the trail back."

The two girls turned around to run, but Vanessa froze when she heard blades clatter against each other from the sky. It was further ahead in the trail, causing the girls to become concerned.

"Who was in front of us, again?" Miku asked, afraid of who the answer would be. "Shoto and Bakugo...." Vanessa responded, and the girls immediately darted forward in the path and towards the blades, disobeying Mandalay's orders without hesitation.

The poisonous gas seemed to be behind the blades, so they figured they would be fine. That is, when they ran for another two minutes, Mandalay's Telepath activated once again...
