CATHERINE'S POV

I was lost on what she was planning. "Lord, you seriously have been living under a rock." Izzy said as Charlotte was just perplexed of my answer. "We'll update you on that a bit later." Izzy added and opened the door. We walked to the ballroom where the tables were empty as there were some Downworlders handing some drinks around. As Charlotte and Izzy walked to Alec, I walked to my group, just to test the glamour. "We are the most boring group with these clothes." One said and I nodded, just to follow their conversation. After a while, I walked back to Charlotte's group. "Guys, this is Catherine Ashdown. Cath, these are our table-mates." Charlotte said and I smiled as I started shaking their hands. "Jace Herondale and Clarissa Fairchild, they are co-heading the institute. Isabelle Lightwood the head physician of the institute and then we have my parents, Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane."

I looked calmed, but on the inside, I was screaming, all of them were legends among the Shadow World. Alec smiled and swayed slightly. They were too cute. "Anyway, I think it's time to be the host." Jace said and rolled his eyes and smiled at us. Charlotte hooked her arm with mine and Izzy and we all walked to our table. Jace welcomed us and offered a toast for all of us and then the dinner started. We talked and talked about all the administrative tasks I was in charge back home and Alec and Jace were really impressed by my skills and organization and they offered me a position for my year-off. I smiled even more after that. The year-off was for every Shadow Hunter that turned eighteen and it was almost as an exchange program. It lasted a year and you decided where you wanted to go and right now, New York was my top one. "So, have you decided where you're headed?" Izzy asked Charlotte and she just slumped into her chair.

"She better not goes too far." Jace threatened with a smile. It was a joke and I felt like he was protecting her from the answer than actually threating her. "I second that motion." Alec and Magnus both said and then, they shared a kiss and I melted right there. "You look so cute!" I blurted out and I blushed. "I think the same." Izzy, Clary and Charlotte said as Jace winked at me, like making me feel good for my words. "Well, thank you very much." Magnus said and suddenly, Jace stood up and everyone got quiet. "Now, you're free to go. There's an after-party and Magnus will portal us there. Go and get comfortable." I smiled and followed Charlotte and Izzy out of the ballroom. Magnus moved his arms dramatically and the portal opened. Charlotte and Izzy walked hand in hand towards the portal and I followed them as Clary put her arm on my shoulders. "Ready to meet the royalty of New York?" She questioned me and I just shrugged.

"I guess, I'll find out." We both giggled and a second later we were walking into an alley. "Ready to kill?" Charlotte asked as Izzy hooked her arm with her parabatai and I nodded excited. This was my first party ever and I was planning on enjoy it. We got in and took the glamour out. The music was loud and the music made me want to dance. Charlotte smiled and pulled me to the dancefloor, where there were lots of people dancing and jumping. I thought we were doing that, but we walked straight to the VIP section. The guard smiled at us and let us through. Charlotte smiled and walked to some people with a smile. "Is that time of the year already?" A guy with glasses said and I was confused, what was he talking about? "You wish, Stark. We're winning this year." Charlotte caught my confusion and as Clary and Izzy talked with the rest of them, she stepped aside with me to explain all this.

"These guys are some kinds of superheroes on their civil versions. Tony Stark is a billionaire and he is super smart, he is Iron-Man. Then, we have Virginia Pepper Potts, she's the CEO of the Starks Industries, they are an odd couple." I was trying to keep tabs on every single one of them, but I was terrible at names.
