CATHERINE'S POV

Tony was too into himself that he did not know we were there, so we got into his workplace. We moved a few configurations on the new suits and JARVIS greeted us. "When was the last time he slept?" Charlie asked J.A.R.V.I.S. who replied that he had been surviving with shakes and coffee for days. We did not know how to help him, so we just tried to make him aware that we were there. After a while, Tony looked around and saw us there fixing a few things on another suit and he smiled. "Girls! Let me introduce you to the Legion!" He sounded so excited and not tired at all. "This is the protection of tomorrow. I have all laid out." He explained and we nodded at his words understanding what he wanted to do and giving him some tips whenever he was too distracted to be coherent. Pepper got there after a while. "Shit. I'll be ready in a few." He said and we left his work station. "Girls, thank you for taking him out of there." We nodded and just sighed.

Tony was not okay, but there were not many choices for us to help him. If he was suffering Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, all we could make for him was support him. It was almost eleven when we all got to the place where the party would be held and we had fun. Pepper had decided to stay home as she had to work tomorrow, so we were on Tony's duty. By midnight, Tony got on the stage and welcomed all the attendees and after a while, he called Charlie and I up. We looked at each other and walked up as the people would cheer for us. After a few more words, Tony offered us a promotion on the London's office and we were too shocked to do something, so Tony being Tony, just threw confetti and hugged us. "Thank you." Charlotte said and I copied her. We all got off the stage and tried to have fun. Matt and I on our own as Tony drank and drank his life away and Charlie was just away fooling around with some guys.

We let Tony keep drinking as we truly believed that he would pass out and eventually, he would sleep. The party ended and we took him home. He passed out momentarily and we used a relaxing rune on him. We stayed the rest of the night there. He woke up by eleven in the morning and we prepared him some breakfast. He seemed a bit more rested after lunch, so we returned to the institute. We were sent on a surveillance assignment and after that, we were free as it was my last day in New York. Matt picked me up and we went to the cinema, then we went to have dinner at some restaurant and we strolled around the city. He was taking all the guns out today. "I don't want to break up." He said after a kiss in the front of his house and I swallowed hard. I had completely forgotten about that. "Long-distance relationships don't work. I told you when we started this that I had to go back to England eventually." I added in between kisses.

"I know." He whispered over my lips and he opened the door. I jumped to his arms and let him walk me to his room. I wanted this night to last forever and I did not want to leave. His movements were all I have ever wanted and I wanted all from him. By morning, I kissed him goodbye and walked back to the institute, there I found Steve. "What are you doing here?" I questioned. "I know Charlotte and you go back to London today and I need to talk to her." I sighed and sat next to him. "She needs a little bit more time, Steve." I tried to be subtle, but he just was over me. "She gave you all to you and you just tossed it aside for being scared. Charlie had already told you that you needed to fix your emotional side too and you just didn't listen to her and she let herself go with you." He felt weird and I understood that. "She just needs you to be mentally fine to actually trust her and be with her, if you're not ready, there's nothing to do." I explained, but he was lost.

"Look, deep down, Charlie is mad that you're being used again and that you're not working on yourself. She can handle you not trusting her, but she can't fix you if you don't want help." He seemed shocked by the revelation. "Charlie won't be forever understanding your actions. You have to come to her too." He looked at me and I got in without looking back.
