CATHERINE'S POV

My day started when Charlie's phone rang and I answered still half asleep. I hummed a hello and all I heard were laughs. "Rise and shine." Jace's voice interrupted my thoughts and I sat on the bed. "Where's my other pretty girl?" His question made me remember that we were actually not in the institute. "We got different rooms." I answered as I walked around the room. "Different rooms for what?" Alec questioned as I waved at him. "The seminar." I replied as I looked for the clothes I would wear today. "She registered for that thing again?" Magnus asked as Alec and Jace just exchanged looks. "I don't like that look, what's going on?" Jace coughed and sighed. "The aim of that seminar is to test your abilities with mundanes, mainly coexistence." I nodded, because I knew that. "So, once you get all the certifications, you are officially qualified to live off premises when you turn 21 and obviously, I'm not on board with that." Jace's words burnt my soul. That was shocking.

"We already talked about that, Jace." Alec sighed again and I was confused. "Wait, hold on. What's going on?" I questioned. "She's been through a lot and she seriously doesn't need more shit on her way and if something happens while she's off premises, I won't be there to help her. To hold her." I felt his pain and I knew that there was something else there, but I would not ask, at least not to him. "I'm pretty sure she'll portal herself to your bed if there's something wrong." Magnus went and beat me to say something witty. "Besides, you could always go and stay with her for the first month or so." Alec added. "You didn't make this fuss when I moved with Magnus." Alec said and Jace smirked. "I knew you were being taken care of." I started laughing and it took another second to Alec to understand. As soon as they hung up, I showered and got ready for today. It looked like a great day, so I made a move on my clothing and enjoyed being away from my institute.

After breakfast, all the attendees met in the place where the fair would be and I looked for Charlie, she was in charge of children and to my surprise, she had requested Leon to be her assistant. The job mainly consisted in keep an eye on the kids. Her workshop consisted in artistic abilities, mainly painting in our world. She showed them little tips to create awesome drawings and then she taught them to mix paints to have new colors. Basically, she was teaching them about runes. She was really good with kids and I found Leon looking at her with pride in his eyes more than once and yet, I could not blame him, she was that good. On the other hand, my workshop was about communication with others. I started freaking out immediately, I was awful at that. So, I activated the bravery rune and paid attention to the tips. By the time the workshop ended, we had some challenges to fulfill and I did not know if I could make it.

By eight, the fair opened and we all started working. To my surprise, lots of cute Parisian boys got to our section and my first challenge was to talk to them for at least five minutes. I wanted to die right there. I was awkward and I did not want to ruin the fair by it, but if I wanted the certificate that enabled me to coexist with mundanes, I had to. I activated my bravery rune and as they handed me their ticket for the shooting, I started flirting with them. Surprisingly, they flirted back. That was lesson number one, Parisian mundanes flirted a lot and with whoever paid them enough attention. As they played the game, we talked and I 'advised' them to better their aim, but I really did not know what I was talking about. At the end of the night, I had a date and a few phone numbers. I texted them as I had learnt that I was way better behind the screen than face to face. I felt good about it, because it had been a great night.

I did not want to go back to London. Paris was exactly where I wanted to be. I could get used to be surrounded by cute guys and amazing food, but I knew that without my friends it would never be the same. I had to go back to my normal life and do my best to enjoy these last few weeks with Charlie.
