CHARLOTTE'S POV

I could not even imagine not being around Jace. "I'm not ready to let go of my baby." His words made me chuckle. "Do you have everything you need?" Izzy asked from the other side of the door. I nodded and then it was not only Jace who was hugging me, but everyone. "Magnus is coming to portal you to London." I heard Alec's words and a smile grew on my face. I was excited to go there. "Promise me you'll be safe." Alec started the goodbyes and I just nodded, I could not let a word out, otherwise, I would cry. "We'll portal everything you need, as soon as you let us know you are ready." Izzy added as Clary just hugged me tight. "See you in a year." She whispered with a tight smile. And then, Magnus got to my room. "Promise me that you will call every day and that you won't do anything stupid to show how bad-ass you are." Jace's words made me realize I was a bit impulsive, but I knew I was going to be okay.

"I promise you." Just when I muttered those words, he let me go. "Are you ready, honey?" Magnus asked and I nodded. He opened the portal and walked with me. "The rest is not allowed to walk you to your new home, but I am." His smile made me feel safe and then, we were outside London's institute. "Here's the farthest I can take you." Magnus apologized and I just hugged him. "It's okay. I don't think they are going to be very thrilled to see you." I joked and he just laughed. "Let just say, I have to portal a few others to their new institutes." I nodded and he hugged me once again before he walked away and I got inside the institute. The hall that led you to the lobby of the institute was marvelous. Nothing could top my institute, but the architecture of this one was really close. "Welcome to the London's institute. May I help you?" The boy asked with a smile and I replied. "Yeah. I'm here for the year-off program." I explained as I looked around once again.

"May I have your name" He questioned. "Charlotte Verlac." As he heard my name, he looked down, but stopped for a second by hearing my last name. "Is something wrong?" I questioned and he just coughed. "Follow me; I'll take you to the head of institute's office." I took my suitcase and walked behind him. We stopped at a big door and he knocked twice. "Another year-off exchange." He explained as a woman appeared. "Thank you, Mr. Verlac." I looked at the guy and I recognized him. He was Sebastian's cousin on his mother's side. I was ushered inside the office and the woman closed the door. "Good afternoon, Miss Verlac." She checked my name from a sheet of paper and breathed out. "I'm glad thou could make it to our institute." She added and looked up. "I'm happy to be here." I replied with a smile. "This is the first year we open our doors to exchange soldiers after the last revolt and the Cohort issue, so don't make me regret it."

Her voice was laced with the threat and I did not know how to react to that. "Was Sebastian Verlac your cousin?" She went there quickly. "Yes, he was." I answered trying to end the topic there. "Here you have your schedule. Each and every morning you have jogging and training sessions with your host. I could reckon from your institute that you were in charge of the technological part of the institute, which is why each and every afternoon, you will privately train each and every resident of this institute. By night, you will be in surveillance or missions, so use your time wisely." I nodded as I looked my new schedule. This was not certainly New York and I wondered if Jace had gone easy on me because of our relationship or maybe it was just London. "Mr. Verlac will take you to the room where the other exchange soldiers are. There, someone will guide you to your new room and will give you all the instructions.

Instructions? Was this an institute or a prison? What the hell? "You will be in probation for a month, if you are not able to keep up with this institute, you will be asked to leave and the Clave will relocate you." I did not know that, so I just managed to nod and smile a bit. I was so confused, but I walked out either way.
