CATHERINE'S POV

The following morning, Charlie had her mood incredibly great and I was happy to see that. "What's going on?" I asked to her mind and she just nodded to Jace. "I had a look on your project and I moved everything to have the Combat Fest as soon as possible." Jace's word stunned me for a few seconds and then I started to jump around with Charlie. We had breakfast and Charlie kept looking at her watch as Jace explained a few other items. "Have something else to do?" He asked and she just smiled her way out. "Why, jealous much?" Jace's face got serious and Charlie put her hands on the table, like she would not back out. "Another boyfriend?" Jace's question made her smirk and I just rolled my eyes. There he goes with the controlling thing again, even though he said that he would control it. "I'm not dating anyone, but if I was, that would be none of your business." After that, she stood up and walked away.

"You said you'd handle her." Jace told me and I raised my hands up. "I said I would be upon her, not that I would control her. She's a great soldier and has all the right to date whoever she wants. She doesn't need your permission and as soon as you understand that, everything will go straight ahead of us." And then, I walked away too. As I got to her room, she was almost crying. Jace's word had too much of an impact on her. "Seriously, dude. Jace's an ass, but you really can't be like this every time he says something against you." She turned around and shook her head. Shit. "What's going on?" I hurried up to her side. "I just got this." She handed me an envelope and I read what it said. "They want to blame you for your parents' mistake?" I read once again and she nodded. "I know this is related to Lady Clave, but still, when is she going to quit?" Her words sounded already tired of all this and I felt that too.

"We have to tell Jace." She nodded and we walked straight to his office. "Jace." We both got in and found him in a heated discussion with Clary. "What happened?" He questioned as he saw Charlie's face. "Read this." She said and Clary left a bit annoyed. Jace was furious and I felt how Charlie was lowing her anxiety levels. "What am I supposed to do now?" Jace sighed and sent a fire message. A second later, Alec crossed the portal with Magnus. "The Clave again." Alec rolled his eyes and started reading as Magnus just hugged Charlie and then me. "We'll dismiss this, because by then, you were a baby and I highly doubt a seven-month-old can manage a revolt that big. By the uprising, you were 15 and you weren't part of your parents' mistakes. We'll fix this. As for now, go as normal as ever, but be careful." Charlie nodded once at Alec's words and we were dismissed. "With this, we can't visit Steve." I whispered to her mind and she just nodded.

"I know, that's why I'm freaking out." I hummed and we did our daily routine, just like any other day. By night, Jace called us once again to his office to tell us that the whole thing had been dismissed, but that they were onto us. We already knew that and they would not stop until they got something. For that same reason, we had stopped visiting Steve Rogers and that somehow had me nervous. By the middle of December, we went to a concert in England of a new British group. They were good. We stopped by the institute after it and told Evelyn all about the Clave persecution and she just looked down. She knew something and she was not sure how to break the news to us. "I think is related to your bond." Her words left me frozen. "When you both ended the oath, there was some kind of energy that blew everything around you." We both nodded, because that had been awesome, but Evelyn was the second person she said that about the ceremony.

"That only happens once in a hundred pairings." Charlie took my hand and I did not know what to say. "It means that your bond is highly special, meaning they are afraid of you. As they couldn't take Charlotte to headquarters, again, they will try something on you Cath, so be careful." After that, we just left, we were too confused to stay.
