CHARLOTTE'S POV

After our visit to London, we went to tell Jace all about it and his reaction was atypical. It felt like he already knew all that as Clary just stood beside him. "You can't protect them from this. Tell them everything." She said to him and he stood up and punched the wall. Before he could punch again, I put myself in front of it. "Tell me exactly what's going on." He looked down and activated his truth rune. This was serious. "Your parents experimented on you. Both of you. That's why your bond is greater than all of us. That's why you can create runes. That's why you can communicate to other people's mind. That's why you can open portals." He sighed and I did not know what to feel or think, for that matters. "That's why my parents lost me and never looked for me." Catherine added, joining all the dots on her life story. I closed my eyes, feeling sorry for her. "Our powers make us 'dangerous' for the Clave." I finished the topic.

Jace just looked at me, like trying to apologize. "How long?" I asked and he looked down. "By the Angel." I whispered when he did not say anything and left the room. I went to the training room and just started hitting everything. I had so much anger that I trembled. Cath was nowhere to be seen, so I tracked her. She was as mad as me, but she had gone to my room to hit the punching bag. "Our parents were the worst." I told her and she just nodded. "At least, I didn't panic this time." We both laughed after that. Two days later, was the Combat Fest and our guests from London arrived. According to Catherine's planning, the fest would last up to the twenty third of December, three days full with fights and as we were hosting, Cath and I would be the ones that had more fights and we both were okay with that, we had so much to fight about. Jace was one of the contenders and he saw first-hand, again, how good Cath was.

The Fest ended and our guests left and all the residents were ashamed of themselves as they had not trusted my words when I told them about the fest. Jace gave some encouragement words and told them we would have a few others dates for another Combat Fest and that seemed to make it okay. I was in my room when Catherine got there with a huge basket and a few presents. "Are we spending Christmas on our own?" She giggled and shook her head. "We're going to Steve's, so pack an overnight bag and let's go." I stopped her and shook her a bit. "Are you out of your mind? They are watching us." Catherine made a face and sat on my bed. "We've been on house-arrest since Thanksgiving and you need to kill that tension between you two, so let's go." I rolled my eyes and prepared myself to go. I took Catherine's old phone and opened the portal. Once S.A.N.D.R.A. changed the system, we walked to the door and knocked our special signal.

"What a nice surprise." He whispered as he let us in. "Tomorrow is Christmas, so I thought that it would be great to spend this day with you." Catherine had thought of all this. Steve smiled and as he set the table, I helped Cath to put everything in the oven and put last details on the rest of the food. Once that was done, I turned around and Steve was there, with that smile of his. I could not stop looking at his lips and I realized that Cath was right, there was some tension between us. "I'm going to pick a movie while we wait for the turkey." And just like that, she left us. We bot stared at each other and I would have given my soul to read his thoughts. "Here, I brought you this." He frowned as I fished the phone out. "What is this?" His ignorance was cute. I walked closer to him and he stopped looking at the phone. "This is a phone and you're going to use it ONLY when they move you out, because they will. You can call and text and-Stop looking at me and pay attention."

He smiled and I got away with a smile. I could flirt back, but in reality, I could not. "I can't do this again." I whispered to myself and walked away. There, in the living room was Cath looking for the movie and I tried to pay attention to whatever she was saying, but in reality, I was trying to understand my own feelings. They were just so messed up that I did not know how to control them.
