CHARLOTTE'S POV

I had forgotten that Izzy and Simon had brought all my things to the apartment and there were boxes all around, otherwise I would have told Jace to help me out. I groaned and there was an envelope on my kitchen counter. I opened and it was a letter from Tony. So, I called him immediately. "You're back already?" He questioned as he worked on a few things. "I'm back, hopefully indefinitely." My answer made him smile. "Can we meet?" He asked and I knew he had something in mind. "Sure, where?" He gave me some address and we hung up. Partying with Tony was something you never got tired of and I was happy to have him in my life. He was the mundane older brother I never had and I knew I would always need him. Hanging out with Tony was so much more than luxuries and fame, he got all that, but you could also hit deep topics and really talk, not just the casual talking and I loved how open we were.

When the party ended, I went back home, showered and threw some clothes on and walked to the institute. Cath was being Cath and I got in to eat something. As I got back to the office, I caught Jace being affectionate with Cath and I loved the sight, but playing Jace was always a weakness for me. Seeing his worry for my feelings, made me realize that he still thinks I am weak and that I need to be protected. Before I fought him off, Cath took me out of there and we got in the car and I played it cool. Tony welcomed us with a smile and he explained our new 'contract'. We would only be needed when there were partners' meetings. "Why?" Cath asked as she read our new contract. "Because, from now on, you're partners of the company, which means you own a part of the company." His words left us frozen and I did not really know what to say. "Why would you do that?" I questioned after a while, still trying to understand what had just happened.

"You're part of my family and I don't want you to be stressed over your job or money. Just worry about your life." I stood up and just hugged him, because he had been traumatized after my kidnapping and everything that had ever happened to us. After a while, he kicked us off his office and we were walking back to the institute and took a shortcut through Central Park. Now that I was free to live outside premises, I could not wait to go home, even if there was nothing there. Catherine kept talking about me throwing a party to inaugurate the new apartment and I had been dodging the bullet, but I did not have more excuses. "I'm not sure who you want to invite though. Jace and Tony are on board, Nat and Clint too. Clary, Izzy and Simon are on too. Even Leon said he would come and then he added a thirsty emoji, which confused me." I was getting exasperated over the topic, but a part of me wanted to throw a party.

"Ha-ha typical Leon." She just giggled. "He's not really in love with you, right? Otherwise, you need to... We need to turn around now." She whispered the last part. "What- Oh? Steve." I was petrified after that, he looked straight at us and started walking closer, making me anxious by just seeing him. "You okay dude?" Cath asked me straight to my mind. "I don't think so, dude." I said after a while. "I can come up with something and we could go." She tried again, but I was so struck by him, that I stopped breathing. "No, I need to do this." He finally reached our spot. "Hello, Steve." Cath greeted and I kept staring. "I'm leaving then." Cath whispered again and I just looked at her. "I'm going to go then and do the thing, Charlie. Text me when you're free. Bye Steve." He took a second and then stopped looking at me. "Don't be so rude with him. Hear him out." I smiled at the ground. "I'm not making any promises." She hid a chuckle and shook her head.

"Dude, really. Hear him out. He needs to say a few things and I know you too." I frowned at her; she was supposed to be on my side and yet, she was right. "Bye Catherine. Take care." Steve said and I looked back at him. "Sure, dude." I stared at her leaving as I really did not want to look at him. My tummy was trembling and all I wanted was to run away.
