CHARLOTTE'S POV

It had been almost two weeks since we had that 'fight' with Steve and I was driving myself crazy. I could not take the silence anymore, so I was about to open a portal to Kieran, when a text got to my phone. It was Steve. He wanted to meet. I was still mad at him, but I knew that him contacting me meant that something had happened. When I was about to open a portal to DC, Catherine entered my room and by just looking at her face, I knew it was bad. "What happened?" She teared up and handed me the folder. I started reading and the building we had visited with the Tesseract had been destroyed and Loki had stolen it as he had taken some people with him. "Loki is not like that. I mean, he craves power, but not like this." Cath told me and I knew that. Loki could be lots of things, but there was something fishy about all this. "He took Clint." I looked down, because if Clint was compromised, it would not take too much before Nat came for him.

"Steve wants to meet. Let's go." I opened the portal and we climbed the fire escape. He was not home yet and we just waited outside. When he finally got in, we entered the place. "What do you need?" I asked as he sighed. "I want to apologize." I looked at him and wondered a thousand times if he really had just said that. "You were right. S.H.I.E.L.D had the Tesseract." As he said that my whole being hurt. If he knew that, it meant that S.H.I.E.L.D had contacted him. It meant he was now an active agent of the agency. "I should've trusted you and maybe if I had given you the information you asked before, we wouldn't be hunting a man down." As he said that, Catherine and I stared at each other. S.H.I.E.L.D did not negotiate and if they did not get what they want, they would kill Loki. On the bright side, it meant that Loki was alive, but he would end up imprisoned or dead. "What's with that face?" Catherine sighed and just looked at him.

"We know the one who took the cube, but we thought he was dead." Cath was surprised as I had avoided telling her that, because I knew how much he meant for her. I noticed how curious Steve was about us and I could not really pay attention to both situations. He walked to the table and checked a package that was there. "This is all I have related to the cube. S.H.I.E.L.D had it since 1945." We took everything and scanned it quickly, we needed information and we needed it now. "What now?" He asked and I tried to ignore him. "Join the mission and do your best, we'll be right there with you." Catherine answered him activating her bravery rune and I just stood up. "We need to locate Loki before them." I whispered to Catherine. "What if Thor comes?" She asked and I started panicking. "The Bifröst was destroyed, so Heimdall can't send him here." I explained. "Unless. Unless Father uses black magic and that's a whole other thing."

Steve was confused on what we were talking and stupidly Catherine gave in. "Thor is her ex and he is Loki's brother." As she said that, I stood up. "We have what we need, we'll see each other whenever we see each other." Then, I kissed Sebby and left the place. Catherine got down after a little bit and she looked uncomfortable. "What?" I questioned as she got closer. "I'm fine. I'm just not too fond of whatever is coming." I nodded to that, because Loki was unpredictable. We returned to the institute and filled Jace on the mission and told him we would be supervising S.H.I.E.L.D until the cube was restored to its owner. Jace hugged us. "Don't do anything stupid until I get back." I told him and he chuckled. "How could I? You're taking all the stupid with you." Another tight hug and then Izzy and Simon had their time and after that, we were ready to go. I opened a portal to DC and hoped for the best.

Steve looked like crap and I felt a lot like crap too, but none of us made the effort to fix whatever we had going on, because I did not need all this drama right now. We got to the façade of Steve's apartment and he walked out as soon as he saw us. "I'm going to draw something on your arm, so we can track you down." His eyes were locked in me as Cath draw on him and I ignored him.
